Over the past week we learned of the termination of the County’s popular Green Fair, NRC held a hearing on the reopening of San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station, and Nick Berardino pushed back on an Orange County Register editorial attacking organized labor.
The results of a performance audit of the County Human Resources Department (HRD) were released and they aren’t pretty to say the least. The 50 findings and recommendations illustrate a picture of a department where executive managers were sneaking through raises and promotions while no one was watching.
An IT Working Group, which had been chaired by Supervisor Janet Nguyen, was disbanded in 2008 just as it was starting to uncover these very contract issues. While the task force was being stonewalled by Mauk and Ajmani, Mauk recommended it be disbanded. Now it looks like we know why.
