A big thank you to Neighbors United For Fullerton for hosting a session last night on Political Blogging. The panel ran about two hours and could easily have gone a third hour. For the questions were good and I believe the audience came away with an understanding of each blog and what we’re trying to…
I’d like to pay tribute this week for our number one reader of the week, Orange Joke blogger Sean H. Mill, who has read every word in our posts and comments by other readers with a jaudiced eye to call for truth, justice and the American way. My fellow LiberalOC blogger Chris Prevatt is the…
On Thursday, March 18, 2010, Tom Daly filed a legal challenge to Clerk-Recorder candidate Hugh Nguyen’s ballot designation for the County Clerk-Recorder’s race (Case No. 30-2010-00354431-CU-WM-CJC). Nguyen’s actual title is Assistant Clerk, Files Management/Administration Division/Clerk of the Board.
Revelation of his lack of truthiness could not have come at a more inopportune time for Mr. Nguyen. Despite being the sole Republican running for the non-partisan Clerk Recorder’s office, Hugh Nguyen failed to receive the endorsement of his own party. This week seems to have gotten off to a bad start for Hugh.
We reported on Sunday March 14th that Hugh Nguyen is challenging incumbent Tom Daly for the Clerk-Recorder seat. Mr. Nguyen is a manager in the office of the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors. He has selected the designation of Assistant Orange County Clerk. Unfortunately for Nguyen, he may not be able to use that ballot designation.
In the Fourth District Supervisor contest to fill the unexpired term of recently elected Assemblyman Chris Norby, we have a full field of six candidates, three Republicans, and three Democrats in this technically non-partisan contest. On the Democratic side we have Anaheim City Councilwoman Lorri Galloway, La Habra City Councilwoman Rose Espinoza, and Buena Park Mayor Art Brown. On the Republican side there is Fullerton City Councilman Shawn Nelson, Anaheim City Councilman Harry Sidhu, and Businessman Richard Faher.
In a letter yesterday Nguyen confirmed his intentions to run for Clerk-Recorder. In his letter he incorrectly claims “the spending at the Clerk-Recorder’s office is massively over budget.” What kind of “management” employee at the county would make such a statement, with no factual basis?
