On Tuesday, Governor Jerry Brown announced two additional appointments to the Orange County Fair Grounds governing board, Democrat Ashleigh Aitken and Republican Stan Tkaczyk.
On Thursday California Governor Jerry Brown issued an announcement of appointments to State Boards. The first on the list, was the appointment of Orange County Employee’s Association General Manager Nick Berardino to the Orange County Fair Board.
The Orange County Register reports that the sale of the Orange County Fairgrounds to a private company is dead, unless the state Supreme Court resurrects the deal.

It seems that there is always some person involved in our local government process who thinks that they can dictate what happens. In this case in Costa Mesa it is Jim Righeimer, who couldn’t get elected as a dog-catcher if his life depended on it, who thinks he’s in charge.
A lot must happen for the city officials to meet that deadline, and right now they aren’t even close. Orange County, which at one point was Costa Mesa’s partner in the deal, has walked away.
