Portrait of a Sexual Predator: Bustamante’s preliminary hearing begins

Yesterday the preliminary hearing to determine whether there is sufficient evidence for former OC Public Works executive Carlos Bustamante began in the courtroom of OC Superior Court Judge Kazuharu Makino. The former rising star in the Orange County Republican party and former Santa Ana City Councilman is charged with 12 felony and four misdemeanor counts of sexual battery, false imprisonment, stalking, and grand theft.

DA Rackauckas Seeks Public Integrity Office Funding

Today’s agenda for the Board of Supervisor’s meeting includes a request for funding for a Public Integrity Unit. Women’s Groups and OCEA ask Attorney General to investigate Bustamante Abuse

At noon on Tuesday a couple dozen women gathered at the Old Santa Ana Court House to call upon the California Attorney General to investigate the failures in management at the County of Orange. Specifically they want an investigation of how those failures allowed the sexual abuse allegedly perpetrated by former Public Works Executive Manager and Santa Ana City Councilman Carlos Bustamante to go unaddressed for so long.
