On Thursday California Governor Jerry Brown issued an announcement of appointments to State Boards. The first on the list, was the appointment of Orange County Employee’s Association General Manager Nick Berardino to the Orange County Fair Board.

One week before the scheduled court hearing regarding the Costa Mesa layoff plans, the Orange County Employees Association on Tuesday renewed their offer to negotiate to avoid the outsourcing of City services which would force layoffs of more than 100 dedicated City Workers.

When I heard that Costa Mesa City Councilman Stephen Mensinger had claimed on Facebook that his vehicle had been vandalized I asked myself; “Haven’t we been down this road already?” Just as with the apparent vandalism of Leprechaun Mayor Gary Monahan’s bar (still waiting for the release of the so called “threatening note” that was tied to the brick that smashed through the window).

The 50 findings and recommendations illustrate a picture of a department where executive managers were sneaking through raises and promotions while no one was watching.
