Supercommittee Fails

US Capitol Building - Dark Clouds

Reaction to the Supercommittee’s failure to reach agreement on spending cuts and revenue generation are hitting the mainstream media and the political blogs.  From the New York Times: Speaking an hour after the talks failed, President Obama promised to veto any legislation that seeks to avoid the automatic cuts that negotiators agreed would go into…

President Barack Obama traveled to Tuscon, Arizona yesterday evening for a memorial ceremony in honor of the victims of the shooting and attempted assassination of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords. The president spoke to a crowd of nearly 14,000 people inside the McKale Memorial Center and an overflow of another 13,000 on the campus of the University of Arizona. The audience included more than 40 members of Congress including Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, the entire Arizona congressional delegation.

The Liberal Clause

Are you a conservative Tea Party Republican in Orange County and pulled Chuck DeVore’s name for your Secret Santa gift? Frankly, I find it odd for a Republican not to mention any military service. Look at Chuck DeVore’s mulitple references to his own miliary experience. Dana Roharbacher evaded the draft but is as hawkish as can be. Vice President Cheney is famous for having other priorities during Vietnam.

Pelosi: Lowest taxes since 1950 because of Democrats changes in tax policy

“Despite all their rhetoric, when the time came to support lower taxes for 98 percent of Americans, Republicans in Congress voted ‘no.’ Not a single Republican voted for tax relief, even in the midst of the greatest recession since Herbert Hoover that they created through the policies of the Bush Administration. By siding with Wall Street, Big Banks, and special interests, Congressional Republicans threaten to reverse this progress and return us to an era of devastating job losses, fiscal irresponsibility, and financial chaos.
