Santa Ana City Government – About as transparent as a brick wall

As most of you know, we have been hammering the city council and executive staff of the City of Santa Ana pretty hard on the issue of transparency over the past few months. We have found conflicts of interest that have required the return of thousands of dollars in campaign contributions and violations of sunshine and open meetings laws. The result of our investigations has lead me to a simple conclusion. The City of Santa Ana operates with about as much transparency as a brick wall.

Seems everyone wants to stand in the spotlight with Loretta and Bill

Over the past several days it seems that every elected democrat is claiming that they, along with Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez (CA-47), are inviting people to attend a rally in Santa Ana. In some cases, they are making it look like they are hosting, or co-hosting, the event. The Democratic Party of Orange County (DPOC) sent out an email blast, announcing the rally, but they had the intellectual honesty not to claim it was their event.

Pulido received the most compensation and reimbursement of all SCAQMD Board Members in 2009

The drip, drip, drip of information about Santa Ana Mayor Miguel Pulido’s compensation packages from the various boards he serves on keeps flowing. According to AQMD records, Pulido topped out the list for 2009 compensation at $21,990.87. Did Mayor Commission Santa Ana Residents to be Polled?

This last Sunday I was contacted by a person who was doing polling for political races. This one focused on Santa Ana, particularly the Mayor’s race. The person began by going over a list of names and organizations and wanted to know if I Approved (Strongly or Somewhat), Disapproved (Strongly or Somewhat) or No Opinion.

Diaz & Pulido, Two sides, Same Coin

On November 2nd, I truly hope the people of Santa Ana have a revolution at the ballot booth and boot Pulido from office. Then, and only then, will many of the South County and Hills Democrats open their eyes and see for themselves the real Pulido, a man more concerned with the perks of office and impressing his buddies in South County and The Hills than taking care of the people he was entrusted to care for.

More ‘Pay to Play’ in Santa Ana – Michele Martinez in hot water over Station District vote

On June 7, 2010, Councilwoman Michele Martinez made the motion that paved the way for the continuation of the City’s stalled Station District Redevelopment Project. Mayor Pulido, Council members Alvarez and Sarmiento abstained from participating in discussions about, and voting on, the matter due to conflicts. In order for the project to move forward, all four remaining members of the Council had to vote in favor of moving the project forward. The resolution passed on a 4-0 vote.

Mayor Pulido Hired Brother at AQMD!

Like I have said before, this is more and more like the former Salinas administration in Mexico. And guess what, even they had allegations of nepotism, which came to light after Carlos Salinas de Gotari’s brother raided the treasury of Mexico causing a meltdown in the currency. What next Miguel, what next. Time to elect Al Amezcua the next mayor of Santa Ana.
