Yesterday we witnessed another example of how low the Gang of Four are willing to go in the City of Costa Mesa to promote their agenda of smearing their public employee workforce.

In looking at tonight’s agenda for the Costa Mesa City Council, I find myself wondering if the Four Boys of the Council have been hanging out in secret a bit too much at Monahan’s Pub. In spite of the fact that they have been told by a judge that they cannot contract out to private contractors any jobs currently held by public employees they are still spending the time of City staff, high priced consultants, and the City Council, on the fools errand of outsourcing before determining feasibility, or if it will actually save any money.

The audit identifies hidden pots of money, challenges many of the City Council’s budget priorities, and refutes the repeated insistence by City Councilmembers that Costa Mesa is on the brink of insolvency. According to the audit, it’s not.

This weekend, Voice of OC’s Norberto Santana, Jr. opened up some transparency on Costa Mesa Mayor Monahan’s openness during previous contracting out processes. It seems the most transparent part of Monahan’s record in this area is that he has no problem pushing to give put contracts exclusively to his friends.

The community group Repair Costa Mesa has put out another video which as been airng on cable in the Costa Mesa. Titled Better Choice, this video questions why the is spending so much on management new hires, no-bid contracts, and perks while issuing layoff notices to 213 city workers.
While Costa Mesa CEO Tom Hatch is projecting a budget shortfall for next year of $5 million, Appointed Councilman Steve Mensigner is projecting that “the city is facing a $15 million deficit,” if the majority’s proposals are enacted.
I was alerted by a Facebook friend request and Twitter follow to a new social network participant from Costa Mesa. Having followed the BronxZoosCobra on Twitter the past few days, I’ve enjoyed learning how much pithy humor that can be dished out in 140 characters.
