The 69th Assembly district contest has positioned democratic friends against friends, old guard versus next generation leaders, and unions against business interests. It’s a battle among frenemys in the Democratic Party. Adding fuel to the battle Julio Perez walked away on Saturday with the support of a majority of state party delegates supporting his endorsement.
On Friday the Citizens Redistricting Commission released their first round of district maps for Assembly, Senate, Congress, and Board of Equalization. From the looks of things, the voters are getting pretty much what they asked for when they approved the ballot initiatives that set up the process. We’re getting more competitive districts.

On Saturday, U. S. Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis blazed a trail through the cities of Orange and Anaheim in support of organized labor candidates and Congresswoman Sanchez. Solis’ first stop was the Orange County Labor Federation’s lunch time rally at the IBEW Local 441 Union hall. Solis rallied the 475 volunteers on hand to continue their efforts for labor supportive candidates in Orange County.
