At its meeting today, the Orange County Board of Supervisors appointed Michael Giancola as the county Chief Executive Officer. Giancola replaces former CEO Tom Mauk.

That’s the question asked of the court in a lawsuit filed yesterday by, Steve Young, Senator Mimi Walters democratic challenger. The lawsuit demands that the Secretary of State to remove Walters from the ballot because she does not actually live in the district and clearly has no intention to do so.

Dragging things out is the best option for the council majority and the worst for the voters of Anaheim. Even if the end result is a recommendation to establish districts, they can claim that holding a special election before the 2014 primary or general elections would be too expensive for a cash-strapped city.

Yesterday was a good day for the voters of Santa Ana. Superior Court Judge Charles Margines ruled against Santa Ana Mayor Pro Tem/Councilwoman Claudia Alvarez and her front-man and Max Madrid in their attempt to subvert the will of the voters and allow her to seek two more terms on the Santa Ana City Council.

The first Santa Ana City Council meeting following the arrest of Councilman Carlos Bustamante on sexual assault charges, could be a long one. Sources say that Bustamante is expected to attend and participate in the entire meeting. Even though the Council will not be discussing Bustamante’s arrest, it is expected that residents will express their disapproval of Bustamante, including calls for him to resign.
