Political satirist Stephen Colbert has made an art out of interviewing members of congress and getting them to say things that can be taken out of context. Well, Assemblyman Van Tran didn’t need any help from Colbert to step into it during his debate with Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez Wednesday night. “I’m a child molester.†These were not four words any candidate ever wants to come out of his or her mouth.
Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez and Assemblyman Van Tran faced off tonight in two half-hour debates taped at the KOCE studios in Huntington Beach. The first of the debates aired on KOCE and the OC Channel Wednesday night and the second will air tomorrow in the Real Orange time slot and will be rebroadcast several times on the local Orange County public broadcating station. The Sanchez campaign sent out the following statement after the first debate was aired.
I’m actually delighted Rep. Loretta Sanchez will be debating State Rep. Van Tran on KOCE tomorrow. I believe she’ll bring some Mop-and-Glo with her and use him to polish the floor at the studios. And while many of us expect Sanchez’s command of the issues to crush Tran’s Tea Party rhetoric and lack of accomplishments…
Downtown Santa Ana came alive last night as many of the political campaigns and insiders chose the Artists Village of Santa Ana to host their election night parties. The night was filled with some suprises, good(Steven Choi and Bill Hunt going down) and bad(Shawn Nelson winning).
It’s an election-night extravaganza. KOCE will be broadcasting LIVE, with interviews of candidates, politicians, and analysts on a special edition of Real Orange. Voice of OC (Orange County’s nonprofit investigative news agency) will also be providing coverage and commentary throughout the evening.
