Councilwoman Gail Eastman has added to the agenda for tonight’s meeting another discussion about placing district level voting for council seats on the ballot for voter approval. This appears to be a case of having one’s cake, and eating it too.
We are baffled at the decision Tuesday night of the Anaheim City Council to reject district level elections for council members as proposed by the citizen’s advisory committee. The 4-1 vote was led by Kris Murray, who had initially proposed the committee process last year as a solution in response to a voting rights lawsuit challenging the city’s current at-large council elections process.
Regarding Brandman’s report: “I have no idea how Orange County operates, but if I were presented with this as a public official, I would not be inclined to accept it as it is. Because its something that frankly a high school intern could have done, anyone could have done,” Judy Nadler told Voice of OC.
