Meg Whitman’s campaign staff must be confounded that the former corporate titan has lavished more than $100 million thus far on her quest to buy the California governorship, yet her tiny lead over Jerry Brown is well within the margin of error.
At Saturday’s OC Labor Day Celebration in Santa Ana Attorney General Jerry Brown complained; â€œMore people have seen me in a Meg Whitman ad than have seen me in my ads.â€ But Brown promised the more than 1,000 labor union members, their families, and supporters, â€œwe have the fire power to deliver the truth to the people of California.â€
“This campaign is about you, and your neighbors, and your friends. I don’t think you want to see an election that is all about who can buy the most ads,” Brown proclaimed. “It’s really about who cares the most about California; who understands California; and who can unite the very angry and disparate elements that currently make up our state. It’s about building the common base that brings strength to California.”
