Santa Ana Special Meeting for Performance Reviews – What’s Up With That?

At about 1:20 pm Wednesday afternoon the Santa Ana City Clerk released a notice of a special meeting of the Santa Ana City Council, scheduled for 1:15 pm on Thursday, December 27th. The “Special Meeting” has only two closed session items on the agenda; Performance Evaluations for the City Manager and City Attorney. Alvarez: Brown Act Investigation! Quick we need a distraction, Michelle dump another commissioner.

In another demonstration of their flair for distraction from their own mistakes, the Santa Ana City Council is again using the power to remove members of city commissions as a diversion. This time they needed a way do distract from their collective failure to stop Mayor Pro Tem Claudia Alvarez from violating the right of Albert Castillo to address his grievances to his elected officials. The action by Claudia Alvarez has drawn the attention of the Attorney General’s office.

Commissioner Removal Delayed

At last night’s Santa Ana City Council meeting, the Council voted to continue the issue of removing Jeff Dickman from the Historic Resources Commission for two weeks in order to request a resignation from him. Myself, Thomas Gordon and Mike Tardif spoke on the issue. I stressed that an explanation should be given and he should have been given the courtesy of being offered to resign. Apparently the Council listened for once.

Santa Ana City Council to Commissioners: Obey Or Else!

What is a sign of things to come is on the agenda for this Tuesday, which you can read HERE and click on Council Agenda. On the Consent Calendar is an item to remove the Ward 2 Historic Resources Commissioner, who is Jeff Dickman. No reason is given and according to Mr. Dickman, he was not even given the option to resign.
