I had some high hopes that when Vern Nelson took over as editor of the Orange Juice blog he’d make an effort to make sure that some of the posts had a measure of accuracy. And I also hoped to win the $266 million lottery Tuesday, and I didn’t so I’m not surprised by multiple errors and misrepresentations in three recent OJ posts about our pending lawsuit against Art Pedroza and the Orange Juice Blog.

OC File Clerks and Receptionists Endorse Hugh Nguyen

Hugh Nguyen’s campaign for County Clerk-Recorder has picked up another big endorsement today. The Orange County File Clerks And Receptionists Association (OCFCARA) has announced their endorsement of Assistant Clerk, Hugh Nguyen.

UPDATE: Judge Franz Miller has issued a ruling against Hieu Nguyen over his ballot designation. Hugh Nguyen got a little break though, he can use the “Assistant Clerk” title that he has with the Clerk of the Board. We have also learned that there is an additional challenge to Hugh/Hieu Nguyen’s ballot designation. This one of of his name. It seem that Mr. Nguyen, who is running for County Clerk-Recorder, has allegedly filed to run under an alias. Mr. Nguyen’s legal name is Hieu Nguyen. He is using an “Americanized” version of his first name Hugh.

On Thursday, March 18, 2010, Tom Daly filed a legal challenge to Clerk-Recorder candidate Hugh Nguyen’s ballot designation for the County Clerk-Recorder’s race (Case No. 30-2010-00354431-CU-WM-CJC). Nguyen’s actual title is Assistant Clerk, Files Management/Administration Division/Clerk of the Board.

Hugh Nguyen manages the purchasing, petty cash, space needs/modifications, telephone usage/modifications, safety compliance, disaster recovery plan, department document storage and retention, public record act requests, building signage, etc. for the Board of Supervisors and Clerk of the Board.
Hugh Nguyen seems to have a problem telling the truth

Revelation of his lack of truthiness could not have come at a more inopportune time for Mr. Nguyen. Despite being the sole Republican running for the non-partisan Clerk Recorder’s office, Hugh Nguyen failed to receive the endorsement of his own party. This week seems to have gotten off to a bad start for Hugh.
Tom Daly, OC Clerk-Recorder, may challenge opponent over ballot designation

We reported on Sunday March 14th that Hugh Nguyen is challenging incumbent Tom Daly for the Clerk-Recorder seat. Mr. Nguyen is a manager in the office of the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors. He has selected the designation of Assistant Orange County Clerk. Unfortunately for Nguyen, he may not be able to use that ballot designation.
