At the end of a long day of interviews, the Board of Supervisors picked Hieu Nguyen, Daly’s challenger in 2010, for the Clerk-Recorder job. Nguyen, is currently a county employee of the Clerk of the Board office where he serves as manager of the files management and administration unit.

While watching the returns for the Republican primary in the AD-70 race, it should be obvious that the biggest winner of the primary election for this seat last night was Melissa Fox. She came in with more than 10,600 votes surpassing even Republican primary winner Don Wagner by a few hundred votes. We’re hoping Wagner shows the willingness to debate Fox for this seat and often.

Hieu Nguyen says he was promoted to Assistant Clerk of the Board in 2006. Dictionary.com defines a promotion as an advancement in rank or position. That seem ather straight forward. In order to call something a promotion, you need to be advanced in rank or position.

There’s this old Schwarzenegger action movie that comes to mind every time I read an interview, see one of his campaign signs, or even visit his website for Hieu Nguyen. The movie is called “True Lies.” Schwarzenegger plays a man who has a secret life as a spy; not even his wife has a clue who he really is.

To great fanfare in his department, Hugh Nguyen graciously volunteered to take an additional 24 hours off each pay period through the end of the fiscal year. He currently works 24 hours per week as a manager collecting the full value of his pension and medical benefits as though he were working full time. For the record, Nguyen has arranged to work Tuesdays through Thursdays every week.
