When it comes to CEO Tom Hatch and the good old boys on the Costa Mesa City Council, their callousness is demonstrated with unbridled enthusiasm. As many city workers begin to receive holiday greeting cards in their mail boxes over the weekend they found a letter from CEO Tom Hatch just in time for the holidays.

In spite of the fact that the city council elections are more than a year away, Gary Monahan has publicly annouced his intention to run for a seat on the Costa Mesa City Council.

I am tempted to call the Costa City Council meeting this evening an on going soap opera, but that would be minimizing the horror of the destruction of our city by council members Jim Righeimer, Steve Mensinger and Gary Monahan. The gall of these men knows no bounds.

Yesterday came confirmation of what I have suspected for months; Costa Mesa Mayor Gary Monahan may actually be a moron. Monahan was criticized by Orange County Employees Association General Manager Nick Berardino earlier this year for his secret meetings with Field Marshal and Mayor Pro Tem Jim Righeimer to draft the illegal scheme to outsource the jobs of almost half the city workforce.

I tried watching the entire city council meeting Tuesday night, but it was too damn long. Does that make me a bad person? As anyone who has seen the men who sit on our city council know, bad is a relative word.

So now that, by their own standards, the Council majority has approved an austerity budget that reduces police coverage to risky levels according to the departed Interim Chief it seems appropriate that the Council rescind their unwarranted layoff notices issued in March.
