OC Labor Push in Tustin Council Race for Gomez-McKeon and Loveland

The race for Tustin City Council is heating up a bit. The Orange County Labor Federation has dropped three mail peices to registered voters in Tustin on behalf of Beckie Gomez-McKeon and Sherri Loveland.

Ceci Iglesias has mysteriously purchased $12,000 in TV advertising time on Univision that started to run on Saturday. But based upon campaign finance reports, she doesn’t have that kind of money.
Another version of the Van Tran ‘I am a Child Molester’ comment

This morning I posted a YouTube video of Assemblyman Van Tran’s comment made during a debate with Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez where he stated “I am a Child Molester.” A different presentation of that comment showed up on YouTube today. I like it better than mine.
Campaign Fire Drill in Santa Ana

My phone rang several times over the weekend when residents of Santa Ana called to report that fire trucks were driving around the city with signs promoting the campaigns of Mayor Miguel Pulido, Councilman Sal Tinajero, and Assemblyman Jose Solorio. The callers were upset that while the fire truck has no decals to identify the fire agency and appears to be decommissioned and no longer in service; the intent is clear to those neighbors just getting a quick look that on duty Santa Ana firefighters and a working fire unit is driving their neighborhoods in support of three local candidates for public office.

It was a bit of a cold and damp week in South County. As always, though, there was a lot going on. As I was about town, I got a chance to talk to a few of the regulars on Street Corners. The old Veteran was at his old station continuing to ask for help. When I went up to talk to him and asked him how things were, his only comment to me was, “the man up there will take care of things…”. I wanted to again ask whether he had gone up to the One Stop Center. I also told him about a Security Job Opportunity that I saw that he could potentially qualify for.
Tran ducks his record in debate with Sanchez

Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez and Assemblyman Van Tran faced off tonight in two half-hour debates taped at the KOCE studios in Huntington Beach. The first of the debates aired on KOCE and the OC Channel Wednesday night and the second will air tomorrow in the Real Orange time slot and will be rebroadcast several times on the local Orange County public broadcating station. The Sanchez campaign sent out the following statement after the first debate was aired.
