Today, the California Secretary of State’s website reports that the Health Insurance Rate Justification and Accountability Act has enough valid signatures to qualify for the November 2014 ballot.
I’m so proud of the grassroots campaign that we built across California over the past 16 months. I have enjoyed traveling throughout the state, attending countless Democratic meetings and events and talking to you about the change we need in the Insurance Commissioner’s office.
In the hottest contested race for Lt. Governor, neither candidate received the required 60% vote to get the party endorsement. Gavin Newsom received 52% of delegate vote. The CA Democratic Party will make no endorsement for Lt. Governor.
UPDATED: It seems that Mr. Goedhart had not been happy with the way things were going at the district. On March 15th he sent a letter to the president and Board of Directors announcing his intent to resign in 13 months unless several demands were adressed by the board. He outlined seven points of contention between him and the board, specifically some individual members and the board’s Operations Committee. Goedhart’s grievances had taken place over the past 5 months and had not been resolved to his satisfaction.
