On Saturday, U. S. Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis blazed a trail through the cities of Orange and Anaheim in support of organized labor candidates and Congresswoman Sanchez. Solis’ first stop was the Orange County Labor Federation’s lunch time rally at the IBEW Local 441 Union hall. Solis rallied the 475 volunteers on hand to continue their efforts for labor supportive candidates in Orange County.

Righeimer at center of Fairgrounds Flap – STILL!

It seems that there is always some person involved in our local government process who thinks that they can dictate what happens. In this case in Costa Mesa it is Jim Righeimer, who couldn’t get elected as a dog-catcher if his life depended on it, who thinks he’s in charge.
Solorio Praises Decision to Reject Bids to Sell the OC Fairgrounds

Assemblyman Jose Solorio, (D-Anaheim), author of legislation to stop the sale of the Orange County Fairgrounds, was pleased with the announcement. “We knew from the beginning that the process was not designed to garner the highest bid, and the local community didn’t want the fairgrounds sold at all,” Solorio said. “This is good news for the state, Costa Mesa, and all Orange County residents who enjoy the OC Fairgrounds.”
Schwarzenegger Not Likely to Stop OC Fairgrounds Sale

After meeting with Governor Schwarzenegger today, Costa Mesa Mayor Allan Mansoor and Councilwoman Katrina Foley did not seem too optimistic about the chances of the Governor stopping the sale of the Orange County Fairgrounds.
