On Thursday California Governor Jerry Brown issued an announcement of appointments to State Boards. The first on the list, was the appointment of Orange County Employee’s Association General Manager Nick Berardino to the Orange County Fair Board.
I tried watching the entire city council meeting Tuesday night, but it was too damn long. Does that make me a bad person? As anyone who has seen the men who sit on our city council know, bad is a relative word.

Repair Costa Mesa released a new ad yesterday, just in time for the NBA finals. Monahan has got to be pissed. The ad targets the Costa Mesa City Council’s four errrant boys for their failure to address wasteful spending before laying off most of the City’s non-safety workforce.
“Please take the necessary steps to see that the Working Groups begin immediately to comply with the Brown Act. And please consider that the Council’s failure to do so will result in my recommendation to our Litigation Committee that we seek the appropriate court order(s) to ensure such compliance.”
…even as they spoke, Mensinger smirked and texted away. Or maybe he was smirking and emailing. For all we know he was playing “Angry Birds.”
There is a fine line between the responsibility of a government entity to ensure that the public is informed about the facts related to a matter of public business and promoting a political ideology. In Costa Mesa, that line has been dramatically crossed.
