When the contract votes of the members of Orange County Employees Association were tallied on Friday evening, the result wasn’t even close. County workers voted overwhelmingly to reject the County’s last, best and final offer.
“The City’s proposal is a reflection of how the Council majority views its dedicated employees—with contempt,” CMCEA President Helen Nenadal said. “We believe there is a better way, and our proposal will offer accountability for taxpayers, will honor your service, and will provide some common sense approaches to addressing challenges.”
Yesterday the Orange County Board of Supervisors voted to impose their last contract offer upon the county attorneys bargaining unit after the union rejected the proposal. For the past year the county has been negotiating with all bargaining groups representing county employees.
