OC cities and county facing $268 million fiscal cliff

For all the talk of the “Fiscal Cliff” in Washington, D.C. Orange County, and 19 O.C. cities and the are facing their own version of a fiscal cliff that could cripple their general funds. The state Department of Finance has demanded payment of $268 million in unspent redevelopment agency funds targeted for low- and moderate-income housing.

Tonight, the Santa Ana City Council is taking its show on the road. That in itself isn’t unusual if you count their monthly trot from City Hall to the west side of the Santa Ana Civic Center for their “Study Session” meeting. This meeting however will be an actual road show. It will be held at the Heritage Museum of Orange County; 3101 Harvard St., Santa Ana.

Sources say that Bustamante is expected to attend and participate in the entire meeting. Even though the Council will not be discussing Bustamante’s arrest, it is expected that residents will express their disapproval of Bustamante, including calls for him to resign.
