While the final counts narrowed there were no changes in results once the Orange County Registrar of Voters completed it’s counting of primary election ballots on Thursday. The late charges towards second place by Julio Perez in the 69th Assembly District and Joe Dovinh in the 72nd Assembly District were not quite strong enough to overcome the election night results.

For those of us hoping for a successful come-from-behind victory (for 2nd place) in the 69th and 72nd Assembly district contests, Tuesday brought only disappointment. From where I sit, it looks like success will be a bit too high of a hurdle to clear.

Neal Kelley at the Orange County Registrar of Voters has released the estimated number of Provisional and late Vote-By-Mail ballots remaining to be counted in the 69th and 72nd Assembly district contests. As we reported yesterday, these races have a significant number of outstanding ballots remaining to be counted which may effect the final placement of candidates in the top-two primary election.

Whatever you do today, don’t let the projections of record low voter turnout discourage you from voting. The top-two primary election is extremely important. The decisions made today by less than 30% of registered voters will decide your choices in November for legislative elections.
