Labor Day in Charoltte – DNC2012

CHARLOTTE, NC — The Democratic National Convention officially kicks off today. For Labor Day the convention participants joined thousands of Charlotte area residents for the annual Carolinafest in the city center. At least three thunderstorms blew through during the day. Storms like these are predicted throughout the week. This should make for an interesting evening at Bank of America Stadium when President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden deliver their acceptance speeches.

Dot De Leon Running for DNC

On Saturday July 28th, the California Democratic Party Executive Board will meet in Anaheim. One of their tasks will be to select 19 members to the Democratic National Committee for the 2012-2016 term. My friend Dot Deleon is campaigning for one of those seats.

Two Choices: President Obama Sets Out His Vision for the Economy

In this election, we face a choice between two fundamentally different visions of how to grow the economy. The path Mitt Romney and his Republican allies want to take us down is exactly the one that led us to the 2008 crisis. We have to reject those policies and embrace the President’s vision of growing the economy, not from the top down, but from the middle class out.

Today is California Primary Election Day

Whatever you do today, don’t let the projections of record low voter turnout discourage you from voting. The top-two primary election is extremely important. The decisions made today by less than 30% of registered voters will decide your choices in November for legislative elections.
