Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez (CA-47), senior member of the Committee on Homeland Security, spoke on the House floor today and expressed grave concerns to proposed cuts to critical homeland security grants contained in the Homeland Security Appropriations Bill.
“Over the years, I have never ceased to be amazed by the hard work, innovation, and sheer determination that defines the people of this community. That innate perseverance will be crucial as we continue the fight for good-paying jobs, affordable health care, quality schools, and a stronger middle class. Working together, we can and will make these cornerstones a reality for every single Orange County family.â€
We have just learned that Assemblyman Van Tran has conceded defeat to Loretta Sanchez. We have confirmed that Tran called Sanchez directly this evening to concede. As of 5 pm today the Registrar of Voters showed Sanchez expanding her lead to 9,752 votes. In order to win, Tran would have needed to pull 80% of the remaining ballots.
Maybe I’m calling the race a little early but things aren’t looking up for Assemblyman Van Tran… It seems the the elective reign of the Emperor of Little Saigon is coming to a close.
