Yesterday the scandal of a local GOP political consultant Erik Brown charging the RNC for a jaunt to a “sex & bondage” themed entertainment venue caused quite a stir. Well, we did a little digging and found at least two more OC GOP candidates with ties to Erik Brown.
UPDATE: 5.00 pm, 3/29/10 – It seems the RNC consultant who incurred the expense is Orange County’s very own Erik Brown. He is, as of this writing, still listed as OCYR’s Political Director and has a company called Dynamic Marketing, Inc. He is reported to be active in his church’s ministry. The Association of Orange County Deputy Sheriffs (AOCDS) announced today that they have chosen to endorse retired Lt. Bill Hunt for election this June as Orange County Sheriff-Coroner. The decision came after a vote this week of their general membership.
So what’s wrong with this invitation? The email uses the same banner as his official website, including the photos and Congressional Seal. None of these materials may be used for political purposes. Further down in the actual email, you will find a direct link to the official website. Clearly the disclaimer that the invitation is not printed at government expense requires a bit of creative liscense. The banner and photos on Rohrabacher’s official website were most certainly paid for with government funds.
