The battle is continuing. Unfortunately, unless one is a true political junkie, a Facebook fanatic or has the patience to dig through the 6th page of the Orange County Register, the only way one knows that an election is going on is through the battle of the signs.

I began the week a bit hopeful despite a cold, damp and wet week. It sure was a wet one around South County. Towards the end of the week, it was really cool to see some sunshine after a long few days of rain. With the advent of sunshine, though, people again came out to make their case for help.
It was a bit of a cold and damp week in South County. As always, though, there was a lot going on. As I was about town, I got a chance to talk to a few of the regulars on Street Corners. The old Veteran was at his old station continuing to ask for help. When I went up to talk to him and asked him how things were, his only comment to me was, “the man up there will take care of things…”. I wanted to again ask whether he had gone up to the One Stop Center. I also told him about a Security Job Opportunity that I saw that he could potentially qualify for.
As I continue to travel around South County on my listening tour, I have been hungry for news on the election front. As it stands today, unless one looked at the actual signs, you wonder if an election actually existed. There is news, though: Giuliani is coming to OC to campaign for Van Tran and Carly Fiorina. But, there is also a bigger start coming to town too: Bill Clinton!!!
It has been a interesting few days. I have been devouring the daily editions of the Register to get a sense of what is going on with the various campaigns while hanging out in Facebook too. If it was not for Facebook and the periodic reach outs I have done, I would be as much…
It has been an interesting week, to say the least!!! I spent that Saturday Night dropping by a Community Meet and Greet for the Capistrano Candidates. It is great that the grass root support is starting to build up in a major way. For those who have been driving around town, the signs have been springing up everywhere. It appears that the opposition seems to be silent. As the discourse continued, someone handed me an email from one of the current incumbents. It touted how they were “conservative” and “for reform”, while the current slate was “Pro-Union”. They seemed to forget that two of the key players have Union Support and that the focus had to be on the kids. It was still interesting reading, though.
It was Thursday and I was tired and driving down Alicia Parkway. I was deep in thought as I saw this lady holding up a sign. I pulled aside, grabbed a bottle of water and a snack and went up to talk to her. I admit I was nervous thinking what Jane Doe might think and how she might react. I went up and began with a simple question: What happened & Why are you here?
