My blogging here is not an endorsement of any other opinion but my own. I'm no longer new to blogging, I've been writing locally and nationally since 2007 starting here at the Liberal OC. I was born in New York and grew up in Huntington Beach, CA and currently live in Aliso Viejo. I graduated from Smith College with a B.A. in English and Film and eventually may go back to school, but I'm still figuring out what I want to be when I grow up. Until then, I work and write and try to do something useful here in the OC by using the word to point out the things that make me frustrated. It's a daily struggle. Issues that peak my interest the most are environmental (yes, I don't just 'believe" in climate change, I listen to all those whacky scientists), gender and body issues (women deserve equal pay, I'm a feminist too, crazy) to the continuing widening economic gap we are not enjoying here in the US (which ties to education, stagnant wages and debt). So many issues, but those are the top three right now. I am an unabashed corgi lover, nerd and all around strange girl. I am lucky enough to be raising a wonderful daughter as well and enjoying being unmarried.

Aides to New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer are holding transition meetings with the lieutenant governor’s office, a top legislative staffer said as calls for Spitzer’s resignation heated up Tuesday. If Spitzer resigns, Lt. Gov. David Paterson, 53, would become the state’s first black governor and the fourth in U.S. history. The former Senate minority leader…

California Appeals Court rules on Homeschooling

The recent ruling by a California Appeals court has declared that children homeschooled must be taught by someone with a teaching credential. This leaves “an estimated 166,000 children as possible truants and their parents at risk of prosecution.” Yet the appeals court said state law has been clear since at least 1953, when another appellate…

Keith Olbermann says it all…

I have to admit that I’ve been stewing for a few days now regarding the remaining days before Tuesday’s primaries and the aftermath of Clinton’s negative tactics giving her some ground in those very important States. As others have noted though, not much has changed in the numbers but Clinton is continuing down the same…

My short but sassy green guide…

(Cross posted from the EENRblog) I am part of the problem, I know I am. I shop at Target and I look for bargains when I can and it often comes at the cost of something important to me, such as fair labor practices, the environment, etc. I’ve vowed to do better and I’ve made…

Clinton, “Taking Obama at his word”.

Why isn’t that great, Clinton is going to take Obama’s word for it, you know, she’s going to trust that he’s being honest when denying he’s muslim.  Of course the first part of this has to do with the fact that it’s not a smear, others have pointed this out.  But it’s not about that,…
