Anaheim Council Majority Ignores Reality – Enterprise Zones are Dead

Periodically we find ourselves here at LiberalOC puzzled by our agreement with Libertarians on policy issues, particularly when it comes to spending taxpayer funds. We see such expenses as investments, while Libertarians see needles boondoggles of uncontrollable government overreach. But for the past couple years we find that Anaheim Mayor Tom Tait is more often the only person of reason on the Anaheim City Council.

OCCORD Attorney Calls for Attorney General and OCDA to Investigate Anaheim Council members

A prominent California attorney has alleged that members of the Anaheim City Council violated state law when they voted on behalf of a $158 million hotel subsidy, after accepting contributions from a PAC tied to the project’s developer. Attorney Cory Briggs urged California Attorney General Kamala Harris and Orange County District Attorney Tony Rackauckas to prosecute the council members in a letter sent Thursday.

Tahilramani interview peels back the onion smell of a “Culture of Harassment” in County administration

The lawsuit by former OC Waste and Recycling Human Resources manager Kathleen Tahilramani was brought to light in a Voice of OC story in September 2012. In her suit Tahilramani alleged improper conduct by County CEO Mike Giancola, the then director of OC Waste and Recycling, claiming harassment and retaliation because Tahilramani reported allegation of improper conduct to Central Human Resources.

Judge Sets Trial Date for Anaheim Voting Rights Case

Yesterday, Superior Court Judge Franz Miller, set a March 17, 2014 trial date for the Anaheim Voting Rights discrimination lawsuit. The lawsuit was filed by the ACLU on behalf of Anaheim Latino activists who claim that the current at-large system of electing city council members violates the California Voting Rights Act by suppressing the ability of Latinos to be elected in a city that is 53% Latino by population in favor a a wealthy and predominantly whit segment of Anaheim voters.
