Fullerton, CA –  State Assemblywoman Sharon Quirk-Silva announced her endorsement of Joe Kerr for Orange County Supervisor today. Quirk-Silva, who is among the best known public figures in North Orange County, joins a long list of local leaders who are supporting Kerr. Kerr’s campaign previously announced endorsements from Congressman Lou Correa, former Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez (Ret.), former State Senator Joe Dunn, and State Assemblymember Tom Daly.

In announcing her endorsement, Quirk-Silva stated:

“We need Joe Kerr’s leadership and experience on the Board of Supervisors. Joe has dedicated his life to keeping Orange County safe, and his public service is an expression of his values. I am proud to announce my endorsement of Joe Kerr because I know he will make a great supervisor – one who is thoughtful, fair, transparent, and effective.”

Quirk-Silva represents California’s 65th district in the State Assembly, which covers around 53% of Orange County’s 4th Supervisorial seat. She previously served as a Councilmember and Mayor in the City of Fullerton.

Joe Kerr is a second-generation professional firefighter who served as a fire captain with the Orange County Fire Authority and Orange County Fire Department for over 25 years. He was the first President of the Orange County Professional Firefighters Association, the former Vice President of the California Professional Firefighters, as well as a former Vice President of the Orange County Central Labor Council (AFL-CIO).

Joe was named Fireman of the Year by the Cypress Fire Department in 1979, Overachiever of the Year by the Orange County Firemen’s Association in 1984, and Fire Captain of the Year by the Orange County Fire Department in 1986. In 1981, he was given a Certificate of Merit from the Orange County Board of Supervisors for his role in responding to the Air California jetliner crash at John Wayne Airport. He was also presented with the Courage Under Fire Award in 1999 for rescuing and reviving a non-breathing occupant who was trapped in a residential structure fire. After retiring in 2012, Joe received numerous awards and recognitions for helping to save the life of a baby who was drowning in a swimming pool and had stopped breathing.

Joe grew up in La Habra and Cypress. He and his wife, China, are the proud parents of a 13-year-old son.

  1. Fake address in Brea followed by fake address in Placentia.

    The operative word is fake.

  2. Are you serious? His wife’s name is “China”? It wouldn’t be “Black Chyna”, would it? ⚖LMFAO!! (OK, if you’re over 40, you probably didn’t get that joke at all. My bad!)
