September 5, 2017, Orange, Calif. Democratic Party of Orange County (DPOC) Chair Fran Sdao today issued a sharp statement condemning President Trump’s announced decision to end DACA, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals.

“Trump’s cruel decision to end DACA feeds his racist agenda to wipe out President Obama’s legacy, and serves no other rational purpose,” said Sdao. “It’s a terrible business decision, it’s an inhumane act, and it harms everyone in Orange County, plain and simple.”

“At a time when people are worried about our economy, Trump is about to drain more than 50,000 eligible workers from our local workforce, harming Orange County employers and small businesses. At the same time, Trump is needlessly harming law-abiding local youth who seek work legally and who call America their true home. This decision is an unjust act that steals the American dream from innocent children and young people.”

Sdao calls upon Orange County progressives to act in support for DACA:

“I call on all of our humanitarians and activists to join me to support Orange County’s courageous and vulnerable DREAMers. Donate to local organizations and efforts that support immigrant youth and legal services. Call your Representatives and urge Congress to pass legislation protecting DACA. And when the time comes, vote out all representatives who support Trump over the interests of Orange County.”

According to the Migration Policy Institute, Orange County has 54,000 eligible DACA recipients (http://www.migrationpolicy.org/programs/data-hub/deferred-action-childhood-arrivals-daca-profiles).

  1. Someone should publish Brian Chachua’s RACIST posts, the challenge “Crazy Greg” to defend him.

Greg would support Tom Metzger if it suited his political ambitions. What a soulless whore.

  2. This action by the president will require Congress to take action. Something which should have taken place during the administrations of not only Obama but also GWB and Clinton. 24 years of talking about immigration reform now comes down to a 6 month Sprint. Let’s see how serious Congress is about tackling this issue.
