DFOC Luncheon Honors Rep. Correa

Congressman Lou Correa, Congresswoman Nanette Diaz Barragán pose with volunteer lawyers at LAX on Jan. 29, 2017 to assist detainees as a result of President Trump's immigration ban.

The Democratic Foundation of Orange County invites you to a luncheon honoring Congressman Lou Correa of California’s 46th Congressional District. Lou has only been in office for a few months, but he has already started making waves in Washington D.C. as a strong advocate for the concerns of his constituents and the well-being of all Americans.

Lou is leading the fight for greater government accountability and transparency. He currently sits on the Committee of Homeland Security and the Committee of Veterans affairs. On March 24, his bill, the Department of Homeland Security Acquisition Innovation Act passed the house floor 424 to 0. His most recent bill calls for federal agency websites to be in English, Spanish, Chinese, Tagalog, and Vietnamese.

He has also been a strong advocate for the immigrant community, holding town halls and forums to better inform his constituents. The first bill he introduced to the house floor, the DACA, Immigrant, and Refugee (DIRe) Legal Aid Act, sought to provide more access to legal resources for Dreamers.

Lou is a proud product of Orange County schools. He attended Benjamin Franklin Elementary, Fremont Junior High and Anaheim High School. He holds degrees in Economics from California State University, Fullerton, and a Juris Doctor (JD) and Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).  Prior to serving in Congress, Lou served on the California State Assembly for three terms. He then served two years on the Orange County Board of Supervisors, representing the 1st District. Following that, Lou was elected to the California State Senate, representing the 34th District, in 2006 and again in 2010.

Without a doubt, Lou’s many years of public service have prepared him to be an outstanding representative. We want to thank Lou for his outstanding work. Join the Democratic Foundation of Orange County as we honor the great achievements of our long-time member and friend, Congressman Lou Correa.
