The Sunday print edition of the Orange County Register has endorsed State Rep. Ling Ling Chang for SD29’s State Senate seat. That’s not a surprise giving the Paper’s conservative leanings, but you have to wonder when this endorsement was written.
The Register endorsed Chang over former Irvine Mayor Sukhee Kang, and not June Primary runner up Josh Newman.
It’s not a simple typo either. There’s a few sentences about Kang’s Korean ancestry and his business experience.
More disappointing is the Register’s editorial team ignoring Chang’s not truthful education background that they’d hang a Democrat for. I wonder if this editorial was written in May and not September. Perhaps the Opinion Desk needs to spend some time driving around OC to see what signs are up?
You won’t find the endorsement online, but my print edition has the gaffe that someone on the opinion desk needs to be admonished for the mistake. It’s also further evidence of the awful-since-the-primary campaign the Newman for Senate campaign has run. Aside from a few endorsement announcements and a lengthy multi-part Q&A in OC Daily, the Newman camp has been quiet while Chang is pushing for assistance to homeless veterans.
It’s high time for Newman to step out of the bear suit and campaign with vigor. This blog sees little evidence of it.
