Donald Trump, the leading candidate for the Republican Party nomination, will speak to supporters tonight in Costa Mesa at the OC Fairgrounds. Traffic will likely be very heavy on the 55 around rush hour, so plan accordingly. Since Trump’s Tuesday night sweep of primaries that firmly give him the advantage for the GOP nod, Trump has insulted women claiming the only card Hillary Clinton has to play is “the woman card” and Texas senator Rafael Eduardo Cruz has selected failed Senate and Presidential candidate Carly Fiorina as his running mate.
Trump’s trip to OC and Costa Mesa is telling in light of the protests in Anaheim over Council member Kris Murray’s motion to condemn Trump’s rhetoric. Let’s just hope that law enforcement from the city of Costa Mesa and the OC sheriff’s department is ready for Trump Chumps and anti-Trump protesters to clash at the Fairgrounds tonight. Better prepared than Anaheim police where Tuesday anyway.
Trump’s candidacy has already produced one remarkable statistic — record voter registration from Latino Americans.
Arturo Vargas, executive director of the National Association of Elected and Appointed Officials, told the Daily Kos he projects 13.1 million Hispanics will vote nationwide in 2016. That’s up nearly 2 million and up 3.4 million from 2008 with the vast majority of these new registrations benefiting Democratic candidates — from Hillary Clinton to down-ticket races.
It’s going to be interesting to see how Trump’s presence is reflected in the California primary vote on June 7.
