Brandman and Bao to join Congressional race?

Anaheim Council member Jordan Brandman and Garden Grove mayor Bao Nguyen may soon join former Senator Lou Correa in the Democratic race for CD-46, otherwise know as Lorreta Sanchez’s seat.  Sanchez, seeking the nod for US Senator, will likely not endorse in the race and its going to set up an interesting three way between Correa, considered barely a Democrat by many, Brandman who has strong Democratic credentials by aligning himself against Teabagger Anaheim mayor Tom Tait, and Bao Nguyem, the mayor of Garden Grove for all of 8 months who finally came out of the closet as a gay Democratic elected official.

It’s an interesting dynamic.  Correa will count on the Latino vote.  Nguyen will court the strong Vietnamese-American vote in the portion of the district that resides in Garden Grove and Little Saigon, while Brandan will likely own the high primary turnout voters in Orange and Anaheim.

We’re hearing Brandman is close to actually announcing and that Nguyen will likely announce soon even though he hasn’t declared.

On the Republican side, Irvine Council member Lynn Schott, a born-again Tea Party republican council member from Irvine may be the token Republican in the race, running as a carpetbagger while having to explain to low income Asian and Latino voters why she voted against a Living Wage ordinance in Irvine and why that vote was good for them.  She has a campaign committee formed but it hasn’t raised a dollar.

Who do you think is the best candidate to replace Loretta Sanchez in Congress?

After inserting himself (incredibly) in the middle of Bao’s non announcement, Greg Diamond has on the defensive against his imaginary “anonymous attackers” with a vengence usually reserved for his fellow DPOC Comittee members.

Bao and anyone else seeking to elevate themselves to congress would be well served to do one thing: AVOID Greg Diamond.

Neither Gay or SouthEast asian Greg is about as similar to Bao as Bao is to Sergant Carter.

I left a comment on Bao’s Facebook page that his news wasn’t exactly news. And in defense of Mr. Diamond, if you will, his wife and step-daughters are from the Phillipines so I’m not sure how much different, culturally speaking, his insights reflect into the Vietnamese community. You have to love Diamond’s angst over name calling while he calls others names…blaming things on Vern because it’s “Vern’s Blog” is a coward’s excuse

      • July 15, 2015 at 2:55 pm

I wonder if someone should tell Pedroza and Chmielewski, both of whom use the word “angst” weekly to mean something like “anger”, that it actually means “fear?”

        • July 15, 2015 at 6:07 pm

It also means “unease” and “anxiety” Mr. Webster. In the context of my comment, used appropriately. Maybe you’d like to try alternatives for the term “battery” which your friend Mr.pettibone was charged with.

Three cites to the penal code and one to a record request form that is useless without the case number. You’re in rare form. (Well, not so rare for you.) Do you remember that after that was exposed as either a mistake or a forgery, it suddenly disappeared?

                • July 17, 2015 at 8:43 am

you can search by name; you don’t need the case number. And the link still works. It didn’t disappear. I’m sorry you can’t figure it out. 3:34AM? Try getting some exercise … it will help you sleep.

Without the case number, people need to open an account with the OCSC system in order to search by name — which, as you probably realize, most people won’t do. I’m a little *surprised* that you won’t provide the case number, but perhaps this is a welcome bit of damage mitigation on your part. If so, good move, for once.

              • July 16, 2015 at 4:57 pm

What are these stupid links you keep putting up supposed to prove? You think people will just not bother to click on them and assume you’ve got some sorta proof there?

                • July 17, 2015 at 8:39 am

One link is the court record with what “Doug” pleaded guilty to and what a jury found him not guilty of; the links are descriptions of what the charges could be without specifics to the actual case. So don’t forget to screen grab these and send them to Doug like you’re a second grader.

                • July 17, 2015 at 1:16 pm

Not so much like a second-grader; I just can’t wait to see you get sued like you sued Pedroza.

I (and many of us) have a hard time taking Mr. Nelson seriously. He is a convicted felon. He is in a domestic partnership with a woman who has “aided and abetted” criminal gang members. She ( Ms. Acevedo) is popular friends with sixteen imprisoned gang members. Look up Anthony Veloz ( the twin brother of the gang chick that killed her lil Yogi), heck look up Desyiny Veloz herself. How about Luis Martinez………
Eastside Gangmembers love Facebook too. How can you pretend you are a: kind, loving, considerate aoul only concerned with your son when you host pictures of men hoisting AK 47’S????
How can we believe what Greg Diamond, Vern Nelson, Tom Tait or Cynthia Ward say when family picture day is at Corchoran prison NOT Anaheim High.

Check out Destiny’s FB. See for yourself what a good boy “Yogi” was and what good mother Donna was………

Oh, look — another hooded character assassin. It has become the LibOC Special. I’ll debate this with you if you come out from under that slimy rock.

                  As for the libel/defamation thing:

                  (1) again, the link that you say goes to Pettibone’s (expunged and erroneous) “record” does not. You need to have the case information, which you did not provide.

                  (2) Let us all cherish this sub-thread forever. I’ll copy it into OJB for safekeeping; you can let me know if you see any inaccuracy in what I post. (I doubt that you’ll be advised to leave it up here.)

                • July 18, 2015 at 3:34 pm

Your posts often contain inaccuracies. Not my job to correct your poor fact gathering. Your opinions are your own.

                • July 18, 2015 at 9:16 am

This “eastside” troll, who has also been trying to comment anonymously on the OJ, could only be James Robert Reade – nobody else is as obsessed with the Facebook pages of gang members and supposed gang members, or with blaming the mothers of young latinos killed by Anaheim cops.

Of course he’s wrong about some things as usual – I don’t have any “domestic partnership” with Acevedo, and it wasn’t “Destiny veloz” who killed her son but Officer Kelly Philips.

But how nice that the racist tweeker who compared latinos unfavorably to bonobo monkeys, and who has recently disappeared from council meetings where he once was a regular, has found a home here on the Liberal OC, with apocalyptic bigot ltpar, ill-tempered reactionary Junior, LaRouche freak Robert Lauten, Dalai Lama hater “David Vasquez,” and the ever-lovable Pinky!

Greg Diamond would like to debate this? What that guys posing with automatic weapons, flashing gang signs, stealing cars and shooting at police are what good citizens. This dogooder can let his daughters date a couple of Vato Loco’s. Causd they are just underserved. Maybe Cynthia can pray for them.

Interesting that in some races it seems the goal for some candidates is to make it to the “Top 2” – & not to necessarily win the election – just sayin’ ….

    • July 17, 2015 at 1:15 pm

Yep, but then the GOOD thing is that if someone like Jordan made it into the top two, he can’t run for Anaheim re-election and Anaheim is rid of him for a while… and if he does make top two and still doesn’t win, everybody is free of him for a while.

Dan, consider this a takedown notice on “Mr. Vasquez’s” reply as well. The previous one is for Yesenia (whom I currently represent); this one is for me. on grounds of defamation.

If you don’t either take them down or provide the accurate contact information of the posters, sufficient to allow service of process, then you own the consequences personally.

How exactly are you defamed here? If you want to start the defamation game, let’s play simply because you attribute a number of falsehoods about me too.

By virtue of your candidacies, CATER position, and blogging, you’re a public figure. You’d have to prove that what was written about was false and written with intent to defame your reputation. I can produce posts you’ve written that make a case for this. But I’ll run this by my lawyer and see what she says. And I know what a SLAP suit is counselor….

Please identify the post Yesina wants taken down. I can’t tell which one you’re referring to. And she’ll have to email me herself

Nothing in this comment can be construed as defamation. If you think the last sentence is, I will remind you of the defense you wrote in the Robert Moreno Jr. Posts

Speaking of screenshots, someone should grab the one of Greg Diamond BEGGING his client to contact him (because he doesn’t have her phone number???) straight away. Aside from the fact that this “crack legal mind” communicates with his “client” publicly on FACEBOOK at 2:34 AM on a Saturday Morning!

What kind of respectable lawyer would NOT have constant contact with his clients? I am a small business man and (and my wife has our business lawyer on our cell phones!).
I am reminded of this thread from a few months back:

Greg, as I have said, I am not a “party insider” like you. I am not “deeply connected” to the inner workings of the OCDP. I know a few people who are. I just vote (and laugh about you behind your back). You are one for the books mister. And my having the resources to blow $250. on a weekday Angel game (that’s known as a “Businessman’s Special”) probably pisses you off. the difference is I work hard, sometimes 65 hours a week, my wife a nurse works hard. Just because you choose to be a loser, doesn’t mean a thing. I guess the good news for you is when you get counter sued, all you have to lose is a 20 year old Zenith and a broken down laptop that you use to destroy yourself and the Democratic Party of Orange County.

How in the world could ANYONE defend the murderous gang thugs that have characterized these neighborhoods. Sad but true: people will do anything for ink.
