CNN’s Ashleigh Banfield interviewed OC Congressman Dana Rohrabacher and Tennessee senator  Marsha Blackburn on the pending government shutdown and Dana accused the CNN anchor of doing someone else’s bidding. See it here.

From the story:

Blackburn began by blaming the Senate for failing to act on the budget measures the House sent them. She insisted that the House GOP does not want to shut the government down.

“It sounds so simple when you say it like that,” Banfield replied. “It reminds me of the time in the Middle East when the Palestinians and the Israelis say that you want peace, but you both want your way and neither wants to blink in the ridiculous staring contest where we’re the ones who need the Visine.”

Banfield pressed Rohrabacher over why the House has decided to make this stand over Obamacare in grave and serious terms.

“Well, have you addressed that to the Senate?” Rohrabacher replied. “You are acting and telling the listeners that we republicans are holding this up, and the government is going to shut down. We have actually reached out to the democrats with a compromised position…”

“Don’t you dare put this back on me,” Banfield replied. “You can’t make something up.”

Both Banfield and the House members talked over each other while Rohrabacher accused Banfield of having them both on her show to “give us a tirade.”

“You can’t make up facts sir,” Banfield pressed.

Rohrabacher accused Banfield of playing the same game the Senate is playing, refusing to even talk to the House GOP about their compromise which would continue to fund the government. “Whose bidding are you doing?” he asked.

Banfield only invited Republicans on her program.  Dana showed again how awful he is at live television.  he refused to answer the Yes or No question about whether he’d allow his own paycheck to be suspended when the federal government shuts down.  But he did say Congress should be in the same boat as every federal employee affected by the shutdown.

My Position on Obamacare by Con. Dana Rohrabacher
    August 12, 2013 at 10:19pm

I am a co-sponsor of H.R. 2682, the Defund Obamacare Act of 2013. This bill, if enacted, would prevent any federal funds from being spent to implement Obamacare, and would rescind all funds previously appropriated for that purpose. Co-sponsorship of H.R. 2682 is consistent with my steadfast opposition to Obamacare, starting with my vote against its enactment, and continuing with my votes after Obamacare’s enactment for almost 40 different measures to repeal all or part of it.

Some have advocated that no continuing resolution to keep the federal government operating beyond September 30, 2013, be enacted unless H.R. 2682 is attached. I have not endorsed this high-risk strategy, which would have the effect of shutting down all parts of the federal government that are funded by year-to-year discretionary appropriations (which, ironically, does not include Obamacare), in the process making Republicans so unpopular that Democrats would win both Houses of Congress next year, and probably lock in Obamacare for the foreseeable future.
