Pulido Gets Hit With Negative Mail in Santa Ana

The most closely watched mayoral contest in Orange County is between Santa Ana Mayor Miguel Pulido and Councilman David Benavides. Santa Ana mailboxes recently received a hit piece against Pulido from an independent expenditure campaign, Stand Up Santa Ana Coalition.

The mail piece asks “Why do local leaders and police officers oppose Mayor Miguel Pulido?” on one side. On the other it answers with a list of alleged ethical lapses by Pulido.

I’m sorry to see “Bad Judgment” get top billing. “Bad Ethics” should receive first, second, and third billing, followed by “Bad Leadership.”

I’ll admit that I don’t even know what charges regarding Pulido’s profiting while Santa Ana burns can even be substantiated. I do believe, though, that we’ll never know the truth about it while he remains in office.

In Santa Ana like most other cities, the Mayor and Council are not employees.

So making income on inside infomation is legal as long as they do not vote on the items.

    @ Cook:

Per article below, “Santa Ana Mayor Miguel Pulido voted several times to aid a controversial vending-truck business in which his father was involved” –

(do you believe his elderly father is the real owner of this enterprise, or is this a “shell” structure to funnel payments back to the mayor for his continued support/votes?)

    On the $500K Finder’s Fee:

It seemed the Mayor wanted to improperly profit by the abuse of his office as Mayor; or if this was really an Arm’s Length Transaction where he would have “earned” the $500,000 as a real estate commission, then he was in violation of and breaking the CA Dept of Real Estate law, because a Real Estate License (either Broker’s or Sales Agent) is required.

If the Mayor has not paid his taxes, and operates his “consulting” business without a license is it too far fetched that he is breaking other laws?

I would change probably have changed the title to “Pulido gets hits with TRUTHFUL Negative Mail in Santa Ana.”
I agree with Greg, I would have BAD ETHICS at the top, then followed by BAD LEADERSHIP, and BAD EXAMPLE, because these are VERY HARMFUL to the city’s citizens and its businesses, whereas the BAD JUDGMENT (the rape is an allegation that needs to be independently investigated), and whereas the underage drinking is a matter that was hurtful to the party goers unless they went out Drinking and Driving.

I heard about Pulido being investigated a few times over the many years he has been Mayor of Santa Ana.

I don’t recall if he has ever got a warning or not, but he has never been charged with a crime or violation.

So if you do not want Pulido to be re elected, vote for another candidate on Nov. 6th.

    “Party at Pulido’s House!”

Another hit piece came out yesterday hitting Mikey hard on an alleged rape, described in a SAPD report, during a teenage party at Pulido’s home.

    Cook,

Yes that youth that is into underage alcohol consumption and underage sexual intercourse where the adult supervision(Pulido) allows it.

The Police report and interviews with the Police spokesperson confirm this happened. The rape issue is with the DA.

If you condone this type of activity ,Cook, vote for Pulido. This party activity is not alleged .

    Cook,

“So if you do not want Pulido to be re elected, vote for another candidate on Nov. 6th.”

Really ….you think it is this simple. No it is not, Pulido spend close to $300,000 against Alfredo Amezcua during the last election. Directed at personal attacks.

Pulido’s campaign strategy is ” if you throw enough s@iit some will stick.

Politics is about manipulating public opinion. Pulido is a master at this . Now he is getting a taste of his own medicine.

Pedroza has a blog piece about mayoral candidate Lupe Moreno . He writes about many negative things associated with Moreno against the Hispaninic community.

He criticizes Benavides for giving recognition to Moreno for a 4th of July event her community organization put on last year at the Santa Ana Library and the wrongful association of him with Moreno.

    - Benavides gave recognition to the association Moreno was part of. Recognition for a community event the group sponsored and organized.

This is in contrast to Pedroza and Pulido :

    - A few years back Pedroza was Moreno’s campaign manager when she was a candidate for the SAUSD Board.

-Pulido during the same election year endorsed Moreno for SAUSD Board.

SO NOW PEDROZA IS “ripping ” ……this is Pedroza’s favorite word when he attacks Benavides, BENAVIDES ABOUT A FEW YEARS BACK RECOGNIZING A GROUP MORENO BELONGED TO.

A FEW YEARS BACK AS I POINTED OUT ABOVE PEDROZA AND PULIDO WORKED TO GET MORENO ELECTED TO A PUBLIC OFFICE WHERE MORENO COULD APPLY EVERYTHING PEDROZA POINTS OUT IN HIS BLOG PIECE AT HIS NEW SANTA ANA BLOG.

    THE POINT:
-Benavides recognizes a group of which Moreno is a member of.
-Pulido and Pedroza work to get Moreno elected to a public office(SAUSD Board).

IT IS A STUPID ABSURD ARGUMENT ON HIS PART CONSISTENT ONLY WITH BEIGN PAID TO MAKE THE ARGUMENT

PEDROZA HAS BANNED ME FROM HIS NEW SANTA ANA BLOG FOR CHALLENGING HIM ON THIS .

    Hey doc,

“Banned” from Pedroza’s blog? You would do yourself – and the rest of us as well – a favor by never commenting on his blog again. That man has no honor.

    Yeah, will take your advice.

Apparently Pedroza feels comfortable violating people’s constitutional right to free speech.I challenged him on statements he made to which he said consider yourself banned from my blog.
