Mail Bag: 69th Assembly District

Mailboxes have been filling up with additional campaign mail for the 69th Assembly district race. We thought we’d share some of the recent mail pieces that have dropped over the past week.

There is this one from Orange County Employee’s Association on behalf of Julio Perez (click on image to view the mail piece).

There is this one, the first released by the Julio Perez campaign.

And there is this lovely piece from Santa Ana City Councilwoman Michele Martinez.

Tom Daly’s campaign has a new piece out but we don’t have a copy just yet.

    Since arriving at Dad’s house (which btw, is still AD 69), he’s received at least 4 mailers: 1 from the OCLC PAC on behalf of Perez, 1 from the OCEA PAC on behalf of Perez, 1 directly from Daly, and 1 from some pro-Daly PAC. He got the Martinez piece just before I arrived.

    It’s amazing to think of the insanity I left behind.

    chasing the “vote by mail” ballots. I bet that upwardss of 80 percent of the local vote in the OC will be “Vote by mail”

    Just got Michele’s mailer: 12 page, expensive, glossy, and full of garbage puffery that is embarrasingly bogus.

    For example, she brags of being the “Director of the Alliance for a Healthy Orange County (AHOC)” – which is pretty impressive SOUNDING, until you realize it is a smoke and mirrors self promotion. Got to its website ( Some things to know:

    (1) “” was purchased as a domaine name on MARCH 1. 2012.;

    (2) The pages at the site, including the mission statement, were all posted in APRIL 2012.

    (3) OC Health Alliance’s mission statement is chockful of grammatical errors and punctuation errors, as if it was put together in a hasty, quality-be-damned manner;

    (4) Martinez’s Form 700 financial disclosures report no earned income and no paying job for the year 2012.

    SO: Michele is either lying about her income, or this whole “Director of Alliance for Health” is a facade to cover she is actually unemployed or that no one wants to pay her.

    Either way, something smells in the state of Michele Martinez.

    (4) In Short, Michele’s high sounding “job” appears to be a

    Interesting observations BernieV, why do you think the political power structure in Sacramento has dropped almost a half million dollars to bump her off in the primary?

      I think that is an ignorant question based upon a false premise and motivated probably by support for Michele. I have not seen any hit pieces on Michele, from any source. Have you? There has been no money that I have seen spent on hitting Michele. The money being spent is to support Tom Daly. It is essentially BIG money from Tobacco, Chevron, the Insurance Industry, Utilities, and the Real Estate Industry. Ironically, this is the same source of money that has been supporting Michele, and which she was relying upon. The more interesting question is “Why is the big Sacramento money no longer flowing to Michele?” The Pala IE? Apparently dead in the water. I think that Michele has been used by Jose Solorio to split the latino vote to support Daly, the husband of his Chief of Staff. That explains his dual endorsement: He is actually running an “anyone but Julio” strategy, and has used Michele’s burning ambitions to play her.

    You may be right, split the Latino vote.

    So it looks like putting all the Latinos cookies into one basket (AD) has back fired.

    Look like the Latino district is going “White” again.
