Republicans Planning a Protest of Obama’s Newport Beach Visit Thursday

President Barack Obama in Costa Mesa

The Daily Pilot is reporting in its Sunday editions that local Republican groups are planning to protest President Obama’s visit to Newport Beach this Thursday.  The protests are being organized by Republican activists and area Tea Party groups (are they still around?) have been invited.

According to the Pilot, activists will be gathering near Poppy Avenue and East Coast Highway.  The fundraiser is being held in a private residence.

From the story:

“I’m hoping what we can make this one of the most significant political rallies in the history of Newport Beach,” said organizer Laura Dietz. “Our goal is to leave him with the distinct impression that California is not going to sit here idly by, that he has California totally in the bag. This is a hard-core campaign. Chicago politics is coming to Corona del Mar.”

Dietz held an organizational meeting in her home and plans a Sunday meeting, where Republican supporters will spend six hours making signs for the rally, which she hopes will attract hundreds of people.

“We’ve started doing a grass-roots effort to reach as many people as possible,” she said. “People are enthusiastic. Our future is on the line. Our country is self-destructing.”

Actually, the country isn’t self-destructing and I’d suggest Dietz examine the policies of the previous administration and those who hold the majority in Congress today.  Would Conrona Del Mar Republicans be in the 1 percent or the 99 percent?

There’s no mention if Occupy OC will have any sort of counter protest.  There are a few days to plan one and that would be fun to watch.

Orange County Republicans have only had previous efforts to ridicule the president backfire on them.  It will be interesting to note if the president references these things when he speaks on Thursday morning.

There’s nothing to protest- The President has done a superior job of cleaning up the mess handed to him by Bush.

Maybe our Newport friends will protest by not wearing their pearls for a day.

Re the protest: “..Chicago politics is coming to Corona del Mar.”

Does this mean Costa Mesa’s own Riggmarshal, “Boss Hogg Righeimer,” originally from Chicago, will be leading the big protest?

Please come to the opposite side of the side street. Bring pro-Obama signs. I am so proud that someone in Corona del Mar is fund raising for Obama. I can not afford thousands of dollars for breakfast with him, but I can show my support. Don’t let these tea party republicans think they own the streets.

It is unfair and Pedrozaesque of you to post those 2 racist photos as being representative of Republicans in general.

Mike – I think you know some of my best friends are Republicans and I fully reject this notion I am supposed to “hate them.” I posted these shots because each of them represent national stories that happened after the deed was done and them started here.

Obama supports don’t mind if Obama’s campaign promises are empty; they drink the koolaid. On Thursday, Republicans and independents will show Obama that empty campaign promises are turning our economy into shambles. A peaceful demonstration will point out that Obama is to D.C. politics what Mark Berndt is to Miramonte Public School, LAUSD, a scandal.

Linda — nice to see you pop up in the blogsphere after your city council race from several years ago. Turning our economy into shambles? Obama? No he didn’t and things are getting better. That would have been President Bush who sent the economy to the brink of disaster. The first TARP and initial stimulus were all his as the economy was in freefall well before 2009. Did you know Linda that Americans spend less on taxes now as a percentage of their income than they did in the 1950s? It’s true. And has far as Obama’s stimulus goes, about a third of it was in the form of tax cuts and tax credits. I still remember your campaign slogan — “rhymes with wow” as in “wow are you uninformed.” Thanks for reading.

Dear Dan Chmielewski, my campaign slogan and constant reminder to Irvine City Councis for over 10 years was REDUCE THE SIZE AND COST OF GOVERNMENT. Irvine is solvent today. CA State Legislature and US Congress did not have the benefit of hearing that reminder. Neither is solvent today. Will Obama ever own his disasterous policies? Will his koolaid drinkers ever admit that his policies, 3 years into his presidency are disasterous? Thank you for your first response to my post. Do you have the courage for a second response? I think yes. Thanks in advance?

Linda — First off, its the progressive majority in Irvine that shrunk the size of city government. We have fewer city employees today per resident than we did when the Republicans were in charge.

In California, Jerry Brown made cuts that the Governator would not and turned a $28 billion budget shortfall into a $9 billion deficit so we are headed in the right direction and if we can reform Prop 13 to fairly tax the value of commercial property, that inbalance will disappear.

As for smaller government at the federal level, Bill Clinton shrunk the size of the federal government to the smallest size since the Kennedy Administration. President Bush expanded the size of the federal government dramatically by expanding TSA and DHS while cutting taxes and placing two wars on a credit card (so much for fiscal responsibility).

The single most important factor in our current deficit is President Bush’s legislative agenda which is responsible for 40 percent of the short-term fiscal problem. The Bush tax cuts reduced revenue collections by $231 billion in 2009. Bush administration policies enacted when Republicans were in chargemeans taxpayers paid $218 billion more in interest payments in 2009.

You can’t cut taxes while waging two foreign wars and adopting other programs without paying for them Linda. If Bush hadn’t done this, the current deficit would be only 4.7 percent of gross domestic product last year instead of 11.2 percent.

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, a full third of it is tax cuts, accounts for 16 percent of the deficit. You cannot blame President Obama for the policies ihe inheireted.

As far as kool aid goes, debate me with facts Linda, not the Rush Limbaugh talking points or the stuff you hear on Fox News.

Obama Reaches New “Heights of Homicidal Hypocrisy.”
    Click on
Lyndon LaRouche denounced President Obama’s ‘homicidal hypocrisy,’ in the strongest possible terms, following revelations that Al Qaeda has fully endorsed and joined the Western-led coaltion to oust Syrian President President Bashar al-Assad from power.
Impeachment For Obama is Openly Being Discussed Among Republican and Democratic Congressmen in Washington D.C. TODAY.
A Recent Analysis by David Swanson, shows beyond any shadow of a doubt, Obama fully qualifies for Impeachment on 27 of the 35 counts that Congressman Dennis Kucinich filed against President George W. Bush in 2008. In fact, Obama is worse than Bush in many, many, of the counts.
So, quit the political partisanship. Save the Constitution of the US! Save the Nation and Principles First. Democrats, Republican, Tea Party, Wall Street Occupiers, Conservatives, Liberals, Independents, and all others, and none of the above, SHOULD ALL JOIN TOGETHER FOR THE BENEFIT OF POSTERITY!! Start Obama’s Impeachment Process Today!

The monkey picture is too much. No one should make fun of someone in that way.

  9. February 15, 2012 at 9:53 am

    Strange Bedfellows???
President Obama and Governor Scott Walker Scheduled for Joint Appearance in Milwaukee, Wisconsin!
A Clue; Obama’s MoneyBags for the 2008 Campaign and Continued Close Personal Confidante is none other than big-time Union Buster Penny Pritzker, billionaire Union Buster of the Hyatt Hotel Chain. The Pritzker Family, has to put it gently and mildly, “a checkered past,” as far as dirty money laundering through the Cayman Islands, etc……
Now, why would Barack Obama BE SPONSORED BY A BIG TIME UNION BUSTER????? Is that the Democratic Party you all support????
Wake up and smell the coffee, Obama is there to destroy the Democratic Party.
If you don’t believe me, ask Senator Feinstein and Kam Kuwata, if you can get them to talk!!!

    • February 15, 2012 at 12:02 pm

Where is Kam Kuwata today, and what did he see Obama doing at the Democratic National Convention in Denver in 2008? What does Senator Feinstein know about this?? Please get to the bottom of this case, we depend on honest news media and bloggers to cover the stuff that others are too scared to. Are you too scared also??

  10. February 15, 2012 at 12:28 pm

Gerald – people who place a Hitler mustache on photos of the president and blindly follow a guy who’s done jail time scare me.

Kam Kuwata died last year; he was mourned widely by Democrats all over the nation include Senator Feinstein and President Obama

    • February 15, 2012 at 1:09 pm

“Kam Kuwata died last year.” Brilliant Dan,
died of what???? Was he missing for 2 weeks?? Prior to being found dead in his apartment??? What about that, Dan???? Nothing???
Was He With Obama at the Democratic National Convention in 2008? Yes or no??
Are there charges which have been made that he witnessed Obama doing something bizarre?? Are there charges that Obama may, repeat may have been using illegal drugs at that time????
What does Senator Feinstein know about these matters?? Why don’t you or someone else ask her and get to the bottom of this story???
Why are Democrats who know Obama is the reason they lost control of the House, being terrorized into supporting Obama????
Why not go back to FDR??- Glass Steagall which Obama hates- and JFK???- The Space program, NAWAPA and other TVA type massive infrastucture and related Great Projects, which will create 4-6 million high paying skilled union jobs.
That is the Presidential Policy of the LaRouche Slate of Candidates. NONE of the Republican Candidates have any thing of addressing reality, ALL A BUNCH OF QUACKS!!
It is up to the Democrats to rise to the historical challenge, throw Obama off the ticket and choose someone who will embody the FDR/JFK outlook.
Not this two bit flim flam man.

I am deeply saddened at the passing of Kam Kuwata. California has lost a sharp political mind, and I’ve lost a loyal and dear friend of more than 20 years.

Kam managed my first Senate campaign in 1992. We went through a lot together in those days, and no matter the circumstances, I could always rely on Kam’s great sense of humor, his good advice and his compassion for the people of California. He was respected by people in politics and journalism, something I always thought spoke volumes about the kind of person he was.

I am shocked by Kam’s death and reminded at how short life is. There will never be another like Kam, and I will miss him.

And here’s the statement from President Obama:

I was saddened to learn of the passing of my friend Kam Kuwata. Kam’s brilliance as a political strategist was matched by his passion for our country and the process by which we govern ourselves.

I’ll never forget the critical contribution Kam made to our efforts in 2008, planning an open, vibrant convention that really captured the spirit of our campaign. Michelle and I send our deepest condolences to Kam’s extended family of friends and to so many in California who mourn his passing.

  11. February 15, 2012 at 2:36 pm

there is no evidence that Kam died of anything other than natural causes. There is no evidence of Obama using illegal drugs at the 2008 convention — presidential candidates are almost never alone.

Shall we discuss LaRoche’s criminal record? Can he even vote legally?

    • February 15, 2012 at 4:12 pm

Since you have an answer for everything, what is your answer to the 27 counts out of 35 counts that Obama has echoed George W. Bush in violating US Constitution?? Remember, these are Democrats charging Obama with the violations, so no partisanship or mudslinging allowed in your answer.
I’m sure you can answer that. Do you want to answer one at a time?? I can type each one up for you, if you desire?

Mr. LaRouche was convicted here Dec. 16 of bilking several thousand of his supporters, a number of whom later testified for the Government against him, out of millions of dollars by obtaining loans from them that he had no intention of repaying.

He was also found guilty of defrauding the I.R.S. by having all his expenses paid by corporations that he controlled and then claiming no personal income. Indeed, the Government said, Mr. LaRouche has filed no income tax returns in the last decade. A Belief in Conspiracies

Throughout his long legal fight, Mr. LaRouche contended, as he did again in his presentencing appeal to Judge Bryan today, that he was the victim of a Government campaign to keep him from alerting the nation to a wide variety of threats and from otherwise expressing his unorthodox political views.

These views, though somewhat eclectic, are largely those of the extreme right and are also characterized by a belief in numerous conspiracies on the part of prominent people. Perhaps Mr. LaRouche’s most widely noted assertions are that former Secretary of State Henry A. Kissinger is a Soviet agent and that Queen Elizabeth II has close ties to the international narcotics trade.

At a news conference after his conviction last month, Mr. LaRouche predicted that the violent atmosphere inside prison would lead to his murder, which, he said, is the Government’s goal. But when he contended again in his presentencing remarks today that the Government was trying to ”eliminate me from the political scene,” Judge Bryan scoffed, saying, ”I reject that as arrant nonsense.”

Undaunted, Mr. LaRouche said that ”the vital interests of the United States have been put in jeopardy” by his trial and conviction and that ”it is time for this evil and reckless prosecution to be brought to a halt before further damage is done.”

In his own remarks before the sentencing, Kent Robinson, an assistant United States attorney, retorted: ”This is not a political case. This was a case of theft.” Mr. Robinson urged Judge Bryan to impose a severe sentence, or ”they just might do it again.” Maximum Was 65 Years

Mr. LaRouche’s 15-year term, which requires him to serve at least five years before becoming eligible for parole, is substantially less severe than the maximum penalty he could have received: 65 years in prison and fines totaling $3.25 million.

I got a coupon you can use to get a new pair of glasses. I think you need them. So, just in case you can’t or don’t want to read the question, I will restate it in simple terms, so that even you can understand it. Tell me if I am right or wrong.
Obama is culpable on 27 of the 35 Impeachable Charges that Democratic Congressman Dennis Kucinich charged President George W. Bush with in 2008. This has been confirmed by David Swanson, who worked on the filing with Democratic Representative Kucinich.
OKAY Dan… The drumroll please……… Now, remember, the guy charged with the Impeachable Crimes is named Obama, that’s your guy, and you can answer in one word if you choose. Either TRUE, he is guitly, or FALSE he is not guilty.
If you wish to explain your answer on that, be my guest, go right ahead,, Take each of the charges one by one… I can get some lawyers to help you.
But remember, the guy in question is Obama, that you are answering about the 27 of 35 charges and any answer that avoids answering that will be read that YOU CAN’T ANSWER CAUSE YOU DON’T WANT TO ANSWER CAUSE YOU KNOW IT IS TRUE.
As my good friend, Jack Benny once said, “Well…………………………….”

  13. February 15, 2012 at 5:06 pm

That would be an odd sight, to have Occupy folks show up to defend a politician whom they frequently criticize. I’m glad the Prez has some wealthy supporters in CDM, and he can take care of himself.

I’m voting for him, and many other Occupiers are as well. Others have not yet been convinced he’s on our side. I hope he’ll convince them between now and November, as the other side is obviously much worse. I do think we’re having a good influence on him.

    • February 19, 2012 at 11:03 am

I hear that SOME Occupiers were there – the Occupiers who also happen to be members of DFA and PDA.

I didn’t think it was a good enough use of my time to get down to CDM and let everyone know “Look! I disagree with teabaggers! Obama’s not all that bad!”
