Occupy Irvine This Saturday

The following information came in this afternoon from the Occupy Orange County folks.

The movement to recapture our nation from the 1% is growing like wildfire!

Our corporate media, owned by the 1%, have for too long been feeding us a one-sided narrative about our world and our roles in it.

We are one of numerous organizations supporting a coalition of activists from all walks of life ready to Occupy Orange County at the Civic Center Plaza & Park in Irvine.

The occupation will begin with a rally on Saturday October 15th at 10am. There will be a 1-mile march from the intersection of Alton & Harvard via Alton and then right on Jamboree to a protest at the intersection of Jamboree & Barranca from about 11am to about 1pm.

Preliminary plans include rallies, marches, and protests of various lengths at various times every day (schedule to be provided at OccupyOCIrvine.com to be determined by occupation assembly) from the intersection of Alton & Harvard through Orange County’s Financial District and/or Orange County’s Airport. WE ARE THE 99%.

With the Wall Street Occupation getting so much attention this week, we have an unbelievable opportunity. As big a story as the Wall Street Occupation is this week, the media might very well have moved on by next week; BUT NOT IF WE HAVE PUBLIC FACING ACTIONS IN EVERY NEIGHBORHOOD, TOWN, AND CITY ALL OVER THE COUNTRY.

The story about rage on Wall Street suddenly becomes a story about rage everywhere, the need for Jobs Not Cuts everywhere, the need to Make Them Pay everywhere!!!

The occupation movement could take a great leap forward and explode into the consciousness of the country. These opportunities don’t come around all that often. Occupation Wall Street launched this movement because they saw the power of what was happening in Wisconsin and pushed themselves- and we are joining our strength in solidarity with theirs.

This is another such moment, but only if we seize it. We must rally, march, and protest in solidarity with the Occupy Wall Street movement.

OCT 15 Saturday 10am-1pm, Irvine

    GLASS-STEAGALL (H.R. 1489)”

The march and rally needs a unifying demand; a demand that has a ‘therefore’. 218 cosponsors to H.R. 1489 http://thomas.loc.gov will force a vote in the House. Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez became the 46th cosponsor on 10/12/2011; we should all tell her Thank You.

Irvine is in Rep. John Campbell’s District and he is a member of the Financial Services Committee; Congressmen Ed Royce and Gary Miller are also members; we should all call their Washington D.C. and District Offices and ask them to cosponsor HR 1489 to restore Glass-Steagall. http://www.politics1.com

REMEMBER: Congress makes the rules for Wall Street. Signs that say “End Wall Street Greed” accomplish nothing. Accountability means your Congress-member cosponsoring HR 1489.

Large Poster Boards and felt marking pens are available at Staples, Office Max, and if you’re really lucky at 99 Cent stores.

    H. R. 1489

Ladies and gentlemen and children of all ages, come one, come all the circus is in town!!!!!!! Wow, the Occupy Irvine Circus, now that will be a sight to behold. The parking lot overflowing with BMW’s and other high end vehicles. Protesters will be running around wearing designer jeans, “made in China” tank tops and talking on their expensive computer cell phones. I regret that my wife has me working at her Women’s Club garage sale, or I would show up just to see the clowns. I wonder if Bozo will be there?

While you folks are pretending to be incensed, how about protesting Irvine’s version of Wall Street, the Agranistas (Agran, Krom & Kang)? After all they were successful in ripping off 200 million of tax dollars from the “Not So Great Park.” They also wasted millions of dollars on the Larry Agran Shuttle to Nowhere, recently expanded to the Agran Shuttle to Everywhere. I just saw a couple of the busses cruising around yesterday, still riderless of course. Oh, sorry I forgot for a moment where I was commenting, Ringmaster Larry and his Court Clowns will be in the center ring at the Occupy Irvine Circus, as featured speakers. As they say in Irvine, “It’s Just Another Day in Paradise.”

Beth’s out of town; Larry Agran, Beth and Mayor Kang were instrumental in passing a $10 an hour minimum wage for city workers than far exceeds the state’s minumum wage.

You’re a one trick pony Pat…enjoy the garage sale.

URGENT CALL FOR CITIZENS TO GATHER TONIGHT AT OCCUPY OC! We need at least 200 brave souls to show up TONIGHT to show numbers, solidarity and support for the movement!! The Occupation in Orange County began this weekend. We were 1,300 strong, a great beginning. Now that we are here, it is up to ALL of us to be united to show the Powers that be our resolve and dedication. We are exercising our Rights of Free Speech and Peaceful Assembly. We must speak their language, which is NUMBERS. It is imperative that we demonstrate to THEM that our village is growing. To help us grow our numbers please come and stand with us tonight. We will be on the sidewalks from 10pm – 6 am. Come and participate all-night or part of the night. We must show our resolve to be the change we want to see and regain our country back. We are the 99% that no longer will tolerate the GREED of the 1%.
