UPDATE:Union officials have announced that a tentative agreement has been reached preventing a strike of Vons, Albertsons, and Ralph’s markets.

Union negotiators and those for three major grocery chains Ralphs, Albertsons, and Vons negotiated late into the night Sunday, and early into the morning Monday in an effort to reach an agreement preventing the a strike scheduled for Monday.

The Orange County Register reported this morning that a union spokeswoman Monday morning saying that negotiations with the grocery chains continue after the contract was canceled Sunday night.

The union and chains “negotiated through the night and (talks) are still ongoing,” said Ellen Anreder, spokeswoman for the United Food and Commercial Workers. “Our No. 1 priority is getting a positive agreement. As long as there are real negotiations happening, we will stay at the table.”

We’ll let you know how things develop.

  1. I gotta be honest I would have crossed the picket line. What am I going to do, not eat? Having said that I do most of my shopping at Costco anyway and they’re non union, but they are cheap.
    I can’t afford to shop at Gelson’s.
