I am a UCI faculty member and grew up in this part of the county and I still have a farm there.
Three articles that are in this days local paper lay out nicely without further comment what is going wrong-right in little Berrien County Michigan. Emergency manager “Harris Eyes Big changes for BH“ EM proposes abolishing ward elections, shrinking City Commission to five Emergency manager compares a city with a company.
Last Whirlpool factory “End of the Line“
Superstore “It’s May for Meijer“ 2000 applicants for 170 jobs, mostly part time.
In light of the efforts of the City of Costa Mesa to sell off our core government services piece by piece to the lowest bidder and cast off our dedicated public employees, I’ve got to wonder when people are going to wake up and see what these Robber Barons are trying to do to our country.
First they Came
First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out —
Because I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out —
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out —
Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me — and there was no one left to speak for me.
