The Best Holiday Card of the Year

Laer Pearce, who heads up Laer Pearce & Associates, is a conservative I enjoy debating.  We travel in the same professional circles and he’s a well-respected communications professional and a thoughtful (through often wrong) conservative.  Our virtual conversations are punctuated with a lot of humor and Laer is never one to be mean-spirited.

Did I mention his sense of humor?  Laer’s firm has the most brilliant Holiday card ever. And a hat tip to the OC Register’s WatchDog column for writing about it.  Laer goes after Bell City Manager Robert Rizzo and rewrites the lyrics to “Silver Bells.”

City sidewalks, broken sidewalks/Built in felonious style/In the air there’s a feeling of chiseling

Children gagging, people razzing/Viewing trial after trial/And in every packed courtroom you’ll hear

Rizzo’s Bell, Rizzo’s Bell/It’s scandal time in the city./Ching! Ka-Ching! Hear them ring!/Soon he will be put away.

Selling street lights/Even stop lights/Made a great cash machine/As the Council runs home with their treasures

See the badge flash/Watch the scams crash/This is Rizzo’s big scene/And above all his hustle you’ll hear

Rizzo’s Bell, Rizzo’s Bell/It’s scandal time in the city./Ching! Ka-Ching! Hear them ring!/Soon he will be put away.

His blog is CheatSeekingMissiles and it’s in our blog roll.  It’s been on hiatus as Laer’s been writing a book, but the humor helps Laer make his points.  But the Holiday card idea — pure brilliance!

Thanks much, Dan. Cheatseeking Missiles is indeed still on hiatus (victim of the flawed Start Treaty, perhaps?), but your readers can find me posting periodically at http://www.Crazifornia.com.
