OCYD Clinton Awards a Success

Congresswoman Sanchez Presenting OCYD Clinton Award to Senator Lou Correa

On Saturday, the Orange County Young Democrats hosted their annual William Jefferson Clinton Awards Luncheon in Irvine. Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez, Assembly Speaker John A. Pérez, State Senator Lou Correa, Assemblyman Jose Solorio, headlined the list of  elected democrats and candidates from all over Orange County gathered for the sold out event.

RSCCD Trustee John Hanna

Rancho Santiago Community College District Board Trustee John Hanna was the Master of Ceremonies for this event where the Orange County Young Democrats honored Speaker Pérez with the Richard J. O’Neill Lifetime Achievement Award, Orange County Labor Federation Executive Director Tefere Gebre with the Delores C. Huerta Labor Award, Audrey Prosser with the Harvey Milk Award, and State Senator Lou Correa with the Clinton Award.

It did not go unnoticed by many of us in the room that while all members of the Santa Ana City Council are democrats, only one saw fit to show up to the event. That member was Councilman David Benevides. He happens to be up for re-election this fall and will be holding a Re-Election Campaign Kickoff fundraising event on Thursday, June 24, 2010 5:30pm – 7:30pm at the South Coast Winery Restaurant. +1, for those who DIDN’T show-up.

Sorry, but WJ Clinton is an embarassment to true democratic values, working families & compassionate, knowledgeable liberals.

Clinton singlehandedly did more to undermine the American way then any President in the last century – his efforts pandering to Wall Street & Republican agendas (Gramm/ Leach/ Bliley Act – de-regulated banks, & NAFTA, PNTR – exported union jobs) – are primarly responsible for the Great Recession.

The Great Recession, Great Depression II, or the Great Depression, redux – has hit the poor & middle class families hardest, & in too many cases – further enriched the already extremely wealthy.

Clinton a Hero? Only to the uninformed, or those with a very limited agenda.
