We contacted Irvine City Council member Beth Krom regarding Steve Choi’s antics at Friday night’s Harry S Truman Award Dinner. This is what she had to say:

“When I was the Mayor of Irvine and then President Bush came to Irvine, I attended his speech and showed respect for the President, despite the many misgivings I had about his policies. We who are privileged to hold public office have an obligation to hold ourselves to a higher standard when it comes to how we comport ourselves in public. At least that has always been my perspective.”

“To see Councilmember Choi parading around the lobby of the Hilton Hotel with a picture depicting Speaker Pelosi as Josef Stalin on his back was deeply disturbing, though sadly not out of character. Worse still, he posed with protestors who had images of the Speaker and the President as Nazis. To defend such actions as an appropriate expression of his republican values speaks to his caustic nature and indifference to the diverse community he represents.”

The Irvine City Council meets tonight December 8, 2009. This matter is not on the Agenda because of Brown Act notice requirements. However, members of the public may speak on any matter during public comments at around 6:30 pm. The Council meeting is scheduled to start at 4 pm, with public comments occurring at 6:30, or just prior to adjournment, whichever comes first. The address and directions to City Hall can be found at www.cityofirvine.org.

So if you have an opinion on this matter, TheLiberalOC.com suggests you show up tonight and speak out.

That is what is missing from the politics of Sarah Palin, Rush Limbaugh, and the rest of those who put ideology above love of country.

  2. You see Art going all ape sh_t over at O-Joke? Had it been Janet Nguyen, he would have been ripping into her for doing the same thing, all because she did not endorse him. Since you were against what Steven Choi did, Dan, he will be for it. Art is for whatever the people he hates are against and for whatever the people he hates are for. What a joke.

  3. Its funny how you Liberals love to dish out the name calling, ect.. but when you get it in return all you guys do is cry about how in appropriate it is. YOu all are just Tools!!!!!
