What would Rick Warren say?

The Bible is supposed ot be the definitive word of God, but it’s not good enough for the people that brought you Conservipedia who have launched an effort to edit the Bible to purge it of Liberal Bias. Here’s the detail on the project itself.

From the BeliefNet post:

As of 2009, there is no fully conservative translation of the Bible which satisfies the following ten guidelines:[1]

Framework against Liberal Bias: providing a strong framework that enables a thought-for-thought translation without corruption by liberal bias

Not Emasculated: avoiding unisex, “gender inclusive” language, and other modern emasculation of Christianity

Not Dumbed Down: not dumbing down the reading level, or diluting the intellectual force and logic of Christianity; the NIV is written at only the 7th grade level[2]

Utilize Powerful Conservative Terms: using powerful new conservative terms as they develop;[3] defective translations use the word “comrade” three times as often as “volunteer”; similarly, updating words which have a change in meaning, such as “word”, “peace”, and “miracle”

Combat Harmful Addiction: combating addiction by using modern terms for it, such as “gamble” rather than “cast lots”;[4] using modern political terms, such as “register” rather than “enroll” for the census

Accept the Logic of Hell: applying logic with its full force and effect, as in not denying or downplaying the very real existence of Hell or the Devil.

Express Free Market Parables; explaining the numerous economic parables with their full free-market meaning

Exclude Later-Inserted Liberal Passages: excluding the later-inserted liberal passages that are not authentic, such as the adulteress story

Credit Open-Mindedness of Disciples: crediting open-mindedness, often found in youngsters like the eyewitnesses Mark and John, the authors of two of the Gospels

Prefer Conciseness over Liberal Wordiness: preferring conciseness to the liberal style of high word-to-substance ratio; avoid compound negatives and unnecessary ambiguities.

    Dan C,

    What is wrong with that?

It is called “interpretation.” You know – how you libs look at The Constitution of The United States of America.

Are they accusing King James I (d. 1625) of being a liberal? I would think that he would be a hero to the Sarah Palin crowd: he lowered taxes and burned witches.

They are going to have a difficult time trying to purge or rewrite The Letter of James, 5:1-6.

    NCS,

I say let James 5:1-6 stand as written. Do you think that Michael Moore has too much money?

    Dan,

Let me be the first person to answer your question:

    “What would Rick Warren Say?”

    NOTHING.

And that is the tact that he will take in the current political climate. Your point (as I understand it) is a bit late.

Warren and his flock ride the bg wave when it rolls to shore, they ARE NOT the the ones that paddle out wait and ride the rare gem that Mother Nature rolls in.

Instead they buy $400. wet suits go to TRESTLES, NEWPORT or SUNSET. They don’t ride the wierd Huntington, Carlsbad or NEVER would set foot in PB.

The surf anology is profound, because it is a micro cosim of what this FAT fool sells.

Further it is a great demonstration of what the uninformed masses buy. That is dimishining by the day as the middle class Mexicans flee south county, Saddleback because of REAL economic concerns. Raising thier family.

The pretenders will be there, but in voice only.

Junior— I don’t know how much $$ Michael Moore controls. But regardless, as to Moore, Rush Limbaugh, Don bren, Eli Broad, Bill Gates or whomever, see Matthew 7:1— .

Given his lastest film, maybe you should ask Moore that question.

So what part of the current translations are superfluous?

Like I stated in my post.

    Aim towards the stupid.
