Santa Ana – Henry Vandermeir has been selected as the new Political Director for the Democratic Party of Orange County (DPOC).  Vandermeir has over a decade of experience working with the California Democratic Party, including his current position as President of the California Democratic Council (CDC).

“Henry’s experience and connections throughout the state party organization along with his ability to lead and motivate activists is unparalleled,” said Melahat Rafiei, DPOC Executive Director.  “He is dedicated to the Democratic Party principals and to the success of the DPOC.  I am very excited and honored to be working with him.”

As President of the CDC, Vandermeir developed products and services that have helped over 400 clubs and 58 county central committees thrive statewide.  He has also been instrumental in initiating an activist training program for the CDC and the California Democratic Party.

“After years of focusing my efforts statewide, I am eager to make a fundamental change in my own backyard.” Henry Vandermeir stated, “I can’t think of a better organization than the DPOC to work for.  I look forward to serving the more the 500,000 Democrats in this county.”

Vandermeir will officially begin his new position on September 1, 2009.

Henry has been a fixture in Orange County and California Democratic Party circles for years. Henry should be a fine addition to the DPOC staff.
