From TNParaidise blog:

Ken Calvert [R-Ca] has been recommended to replace John Doolittle [R-CA) on the House Appropriations Committee since Doolittle is being investigated by the FBI in connection with the Jack Abramoff scandal. Minority Leader John Boehner [R-OH] recommended this action in order to "enforce a tougher ethical standard in the 110th Congress," and thus called on Doolittle to immediately resign his committee seat in the wake of corruption charges.
Ken Calvert, the new standard for GOP moral values was caught by police receiving oral sex from a prostitute in his car, tried to run from police, then repeatedly lied about it ever happening.
Calvert, a close associate of convicted felon Duke Cunningham is listed as one of the most corrupt members of Congress, notorious for making huge personal profits from his own earmarks.
Republican hypocrisy runs deep. Calvert was a big critic of Bill Clinton. Calvert is an admitted long term adulterer whose affair with a married woman wrecked a young family with small children. He was sued by his ex for failing to pay alimony.

And an excerpt from a comment from Calvert himself to a post on RedState.com:
The American people have every right to expect their elected leaders to adhere to the highest ethical standards. This week I faced tough questions from my leadership and my colleagues in the House Republican Conference. We had a candid, frank discussion, and I answered all of the questions I was asked and was approved by both the Steering Committee and the Republican Conference.
In my 14 years of service in the U.S. Congress, I have always held myself to the highest ethical standards and remain committed to upholding the faith placed in me by our Republican Leadership and all my Republican colleagues.

We should not get distracted from the main challenges which are getting the mainstream media to cover real stories of real improprieties by Members on the other side of the aisle and, most importantly, restoring the Republican majority in Congress.

As a Republican who believes protecting taxpayers is a solemn duty, and a committed legislator who would never abuse the trust placed in him by his constituents, I am dismayed by the distortions leveled against me by the left and I am determined to set the record straight.

High ethical standards. Hooker? Failure to pay child support? I say again, cheapshot? I don't think so.

So will Sanford follow the advice he gave Bill Clinton? To Resign. It's not a cheap shot to bring up the moral failings of a politician who uses morality to work the base. Calvert is a hypocrite.

My bad Matt,

I intended to post this under my name but it appears I failed to do so.

In general we post our stories under our names. Sometimes posts that are not opinion pieces get posted under Editorial Staff. The posting of this commentary was initiated by me but I failed to properly set the author ID.

Sorry about that part, but let's get real here Matt. While it was a long time ago (1993)that Calvert got caught in his car with a prostitute, he still has pushed the "moral" ideology of the Republican party on the rest of us.

Calvert, joined by his colleagues in the House, voted to impeach President Bill Clinton over having an intimate relationship with an intern. Calvert got caught with his pants down with a sex-worker by a police officer and walked away from charges because he was a member of congress.

Wow - what a cheap shot. Maybe that's why nobody on the LOC blogpen would sign their name to this post.

When did that incident happen? 18 years ago?

So, from now, will Bill Clinton be referred to as the Mark Sanford of former Presidents?

Rather than a "philanderer" - Ken is better described as a horn-dog.

Philanderer: To carry on a sexual affair, especially an extramarital affair, with a woman one cannot or does not intend to marry.
To engage in many love affairs, especially with a frivolous or casual attitude.

Loretta Sanchez: "philanderess"
