Local Budget Shortfalls

Here’s a quick summary of the announced budget shortfalls for our local governments.  Revenues are general fund revenues.

Brea  - Revenues $54.8 million, Gap $2.3 million (4.2%), Revenue mix  33.3% sales and use taxes, 19.8% contract to provide police services for Yorba Linda, fees, 11.5% charges & other revenue, 10.4% property taxes 

Buena Park - Revenues   $56.4 million, Gap  $2.3 million (4.1%), Revenue mix 51% sales and use taxes, 12% property taxes, 7.8% transient occupancy taxes

Fullerton - Revenues   $77.9 million, Gap  $4 million (5.1%), Revenue mix 43.6% property taxes, 28.3% sales and use taxes    

Irvine - Revenues $145 million, Gap $1.6 million (1.7%), Revenue mix 38.4% property taxes, 29.9% sales and use taxes, 7.3% transient occupancy taxes

Los Alamitos  - Revenues $11.8 million, Gap $600,000 (5.1%), Revenue mix  24.4% sales and use taxes,  23.6% property taxes, 18.9% local utility taxes

Newport Beach - Revenues $153 million, Gap $3.5 million (2.3%), Revenue mix 50.3% property taxes, 15.2% sales and use taxes, 7.5% transient occupany taxes

Orange - Revenues $90.9 million, Gap $11 million (12.1%), Revenue mix 39% sales and use taxes,  21.2% property taxes, 12% motor vehicle license fees, 3.5% transient occupancy taxes

San Juan Capistrano - Revenues $23.8 million, Gap $1.5 million (6.3%), Revenue mix 32.7% sales and use taxes, 21.8% property taxes, 10.9%motor vehicle license fees

Santa Ana  - Revenues  $216 million, Gap $15 million (6.9%), Revenue mix 21.1% sales and use taxes, 14% property taxes, 13% utility tax, 12.5% motor vehicle license fees
